A Note From the Assistant Headmaster

Dear GP Parents,

Every summer the Glendale Prep Family Handbook is updated. This almost always includes changes in teacher information, emails, and phone extensions. The handbook is also extremely important because it informs parents and students about academics, culture, and community. We appreciate your continued support and partnership in helping us teach and train up our students. To that end, we are asking parents and students to read through the handbook, particularly paying attention to the academic philosophy and requirements as well as the code of conduct and character expectations. We would like parents and students to affirm they have completed reading the handbook by electronically signing. This process will also allow parents and students to seek out clarification or receive answers to questions. If after reading the handbook, please reach out to me with questions. I can be reached by email at knavarrette@glendaleprep.org or you can reach me by calling the school at 623.889.0822 and dialing extension 1505. Please visit the GP Payment Portal where you can read the Glendale Prep Family Handbook and affirm, by signing electronically, that your family has reviewed the handbook together and are familiar with the academic philosophy and requirements, as well as the code of conduct and character expectations. We look forward to another great school year as we partner together to grow the hearts and minds of our students.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Assistant Headmaster

Volunteer Fingerprinting
We will be providing an opportunity for volunteers to be fingerprinted on Thursday, August 30th, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Fingerprint clearances issued by Glendale Prep are valid for Glendale Archway, as well. If you are planning to volunteer at the school or any school event, you will need to go through the fingerprinting process. The school incurs a $20 fee for each volunteer fingerprinted. If you are able to make a donation to help offset the cost, we would be grateful. Donations can be made on the payment portal, or by cash/check to the front office.

Curriculum Night
We would like to invite all Glendale Prep parents to our Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 30th. This is our annual kick-off event and an excellent opportunity to meet our administration and faculty and discuss our curriculum and educational pedagogy.

We will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the gym lobby with sign-in, an informational fair, and refreshments. We will then transition to classroom presentations. Teachers will give a brief lesson in their classrooms; parents will have the opportunity to follow their child’s class schedule and visit with their teachers. This is a parent-only event. Please click on Curriculum Night to sign up for the event.

Arrival & Parking
The campus will open for parking at 6:00 p.m. Please do not arrive before 6:00 p.m. All vehicles will enter from 83rd Ave., and the first 60 cars will be directed to park perpendicular to the building’s main sidewalk. After these spots are filled, all parking spots throughout the lot will be available, including the student parking lot. Parents should enter the building through the north gym entrance. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Tour of Italy and Greece: Informational Meeting
Parents of high school students are invited to attend an informational meeting about the coming trip to Greece and Italy. The meeting will provide an opportunity to gather information about this opportunity and to meet the group leaders, Mr. Tierney, Ms. Henrich, and Mr. Oakes. The meeting will take place in the Library of GP on Thursday, August 23rd. It will begin at 4:00 p.m., lasting less than 30 minutes. Please reach out to Mr. Oakes at loakes@glendaleprep.org if you have questions. You can find information about the trip at this website:https://www.eftours.com/tour-website/2135291XE

Daily Lyceum Period
We want to remind you that your son or daughter has a twenty-five minute Lyceum period every full day of school. This Lyceum period takes place either before or after lunch depending on a student’s grade level, but most of the same opportunities are available during each Lyceum period. Some of these opportunities include sports recreation in the gymnasium, socializing with friends in the courtyard, as well as quiet workrooms for study and for completing homework. Additionally, many faculty members will hold tutoring during Lyceum periods. As the year continues, more extracurricular opportunities will be made available during those times as well. We hope that your son or daughter will take full advantage of these opportunities.

Tutoring Schedule, Event Calendar, and Family Directory

Community Investment & Tax Credit
Just as our Glendale Prep students have already begun their work, the Development Team has been working hard to support our students and teachers. It is a blessing and privilege to work alongside our incredible Prep families as we raise awareness and support for this year’s Community Investment and Tax Credit campaigns. These campaigns are critical in providing the additional funds that are necessary for us to nurture our scholars in Truth, Beauty, and Goodness. As fellow parents, we have been overwhelmed by all the families that have already contributed to this year’s Community Investment campaign. There truly is no better place to invest than in your student’s education! We look forward to an amazing year at Glendale Prep. Go Griffins!

If you have already given to this year’s Community Investment campaign, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

In the service of our students and teachers,
Cathy Sparks & Tonya McHale
