Important 26_27 School Info
July 16, 2026 -
Dear Glendale Prep Parents,
Please see updated school year dates, supply and book lists, and other important school information below.
Bookstore
The Glendale Prep Bookstore is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday August 3rd and 4th. All families will need to visit the GP Bookstore in order to receive textbooks, consumables, classics to keep, locker assignments, class schedules, etc. You may sign up for the GP Bookstore HERE.
If your plans have changed for the 2026-2027 school year, and you no longer plan to have your child attend Glendale Prep, please reach out to Mrs. Carney, so she can refund your $175 textbook deposit and take care of your child’s records, as he or she moves to a new school. Additionally, having the most updated enrollment allows us to address our long waitlists.
2026-2027 Books
Consumables and Classics to Keep
Please pay for your Consumables on the payment portal PRIOR to your arrival at Bookstore. Paying for Consumables ahead of time will expedite your Bookstore experience! Parents will otherwise be asked to pay for consumables at the Bookstore through their parent payment portal before receiving your child’s schedule and books.
Consumables include Glendale Prep published workbooks and readers, field trip contributions, 10th-11th grade PSAT testing fees, yearbook etc. The consumables product also collects important transportation/ field trip signature releases and tee-shirt sizing information for your student(s). For convenience, we are including the yearbook as part of the consumables. If you do not wish for your child to receive a yearbook at the end of the school year, please reach out to Mrs. Haley for a refund for this cost. Yearbooks will not be for sale at the end of the school year.
Click HERE to pay for your child’s consumables on the payment portal. Consumables will either be placed in lockers or handed out by teachers.
Important note for seniors: The Senior Contribution of $285 helps to pay for a portion of senior-only events such as senior dinner, senior mini retreats, graduation, senior panels, etc.
Classics to Keep
One of the long-standing traditions at Glendale Prep is helping students build a personal library of great books through our “Classics to Keep” program. These are the texts students read, discuss, and annotate throughout the school year, and they remain the students’ property to keep for years to come.
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Classics to Keep books will now be included as part of the Consumables fee and will be purchased directly through the school rather than individually by families.
This change allows us to:
- Ensure every student has the correct edition required for class
- Provide clean, non-annotated copies for all students
- Guarantee books are available exactly when teachers need them during instruction
- Simplify the purchasing process for families
Teachers will distribute the books directly to students throughout the year as they are needed in class.
We are excited about this update and believe it will create a smoother and more consistent experience for both students and families while continuing the meaningful tradition of building a personal library of classics.
Textbooks
Textbooks will be issued to each student at the Glendale Prep Bookstore for use during the academic year. Some classes will have issued textbooks; others will not. These books will remain the property of the school. All books issued must be returned in good condition at the end of the school year. A book that is not returned or returned in unusable condition, will result in a fee.
NOTE: All textbooks MUST have a brown paper textbook cover; this helps protect the book during the year from wear and tear.
Student Supply Lists
Supply lists can be found on the grade level lists HERE. We recommend your student has these items on the first day of school. Please note that general items like pencils, paper, notebooks, etc. are listed first; scroll down for grade specific lists.
Lockers & Locks
All students will be provided a combination lock for their school locker. Students will be given locker assignments and lock combinations at Bookstore. Any lost or damaged locks require a replacement fee of $15.
Students will receive locker assignments on their schedules at Bookstore. If you wish to purchase or make locker shelves or decorations, the dimensions of our lockers are:
- Stacking lockers:14 7/8 (w) X 16 3/4 (d) X 35 1/8 (h)
- Stand-alone lockers: 11 3/4 (w) X 16 3/4 (d) X 25 3/4 bottom to built-in shelf (h) and 9 3/8 from shelf to top of locker
Junior & Senior Blazers
Upperclassmen have the privilege of wearing the Glendale Prep Blazer on campus and in class. Juniors are awarded their blazers at the Blazer Ceremony. The Parent Service Organization (PSO) will be coordinating blazer fittings and orders at Bookstore. Parents should plan on attending the fitting with their Junior or Senior to ensure the proper fit, as orders and sizing are final. The PSO is contributing $55 towards the purchase of every blazer, bringing the final cost to families down from $139.00 to only $84.00.
You must order directly through the GP Payment Portal to receive the discount. You can order the blazer HERE.
High School Retreat
Next year we will host the sixth annual Glendale Prep High School Retreat at Lost Canyon for 9th- 12th grade students! Our goal is to have 100% participation for the high school retreat. We will not have high school classes during the days we are at Lost Canyon. High school students will depart by bus on Wednesday, September 2nd (Seniors will depart a day early on the 1st) and will return to school on Friday, September 4th. The retreat will include bonding over team-building activities, competition, leadership exercises, hiking, games, and loads of fun.
The cost of the high school retreat includes transportation, room/board, activities, five meals, and one snack. The retreat requires a financial commitment from families. The cost per student is $385 ($465 for seniors).
Register and pay for the retreat HERE.
Immunizations and Medications
Our school nurses will be at Bookstore to collect any updated immunization records, allergy information, and medications that your child will need for the school year. If your child needs updated immunizations, please make an appointment this summer with your pediatrician. If you have any questions, please email our school health office.
Student Drivers
Senior student drivers will soon be sent an invitation to purchase a parking spot on the payment portal. If spots remain, an email will be sent to Junior parents to request entering our lottery for a parking spot. Student drivers will need to submit a parking waiver, a copy of their driver’s license, and proof of insurance according to the instructions in that email. There are a limited number of spaces, and spaces cannot be reserved without payment. Parking decals will be distributed at Bookstore. If the decal is lost, there is a $10 fee to replace it. Freshmen and Sophomores will not be offered parking spots. Student drivers may not park in regular campus parking spots.
Student Safety and After School Supervision
At Glendale Prep, student safety and campus security remain our highest priority. To ensure a safe campus and environment, all students who are not involved in after-school extracurricular or athletic teams will not be permitted to stay on campus after 3:45 pm (the campus is open to students each school day beginning at 7:00 am). Homework Club serves as a support to families who may require supervision after 3:45 pm.
Homework Club
Homework Club is available for all students who may require supervision after 3:45 pm, or for parents who would like a quiet environment for their children to complete their homework every school day until 5:30 pm, including half-day Wednesdays. Please send a sack lunch with your child on Wednesdays.
Registration information for homework club will be sent out soon.
*Please note that we will not have homework club available on the first two days of school (July 31 and August 1) or during finals weeks of both Semester I and Semester II.
Lunches
Students may purchase hot lunch in advance or bring their lunch with them to school. The front office does not call students or leave locker notes for forgotten lunches, and we do not accept food deliveries from third party vendors (Uber Eats, Door Dash etc.). Students should check the bookshelf in the front office for any lunches that may have been delivered by a parent. Hot lunches are organized by the Glendale Prep Parent Service Organization (PSO). Information and details regarding hot lunch ordering will be sent separately via email.
School Uniforms and Dress Code
Need to check sizing before placing your uniform order? We will have Lands’ End uniform samples available for students to try on throughout the summer in the Front Office during our summer office hours.
Summer Office Hours:
Monday–Thursday
8:00 AM–1:00 PM
We ask that families purchase all uniform tops and skirts from our uniform vendors below in order to ensure that the color and fit match throughout our student body. Please familiarize yourself and your student with the uniform policy. The GP PSO will hold a used uniform sale at Bookstore.
Spirit Day
Spirit Day will continue to be on Wednesdays for the 2026-2027 school year. Specific spirit day dress code information can be found on the detailed dress code documents linked above.
Athletics
If your student plans on participating in a sport next school year, please be sure your child has an updated physical as of March 1st, 2026. You can download the 2026-2027 AIA physical forms and well as register through Big Teams through our Athletics website HERE. Please reach out to Athletic Department with any questions HERE.
New Student Orientation
As a reminder, New Student Orientation is Wednesday, August 5th from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Students new to Glendale Prep need to arrive at school in uniform no later than 8:30 a.m. Another email will be sent with further instructions to all new GP students. This is a student event only; parents will drop off and pick up new students for the event.
Volunteer Screening
We recommend that all GP parents volunteer for at least one event or committee each year as a way to stay involved in our community. If you would like to volunteer at the school or at any school event, you will need to go through the Raptor volunteer screening. The volunteer screening costs $6 and is valid for one year. Screenings are valid for both Glendale Prep and Archway Glendale. If you are first-time volunteer, please wait until after July 1st to fill out the volunteer application. Please click here.
Family Calendars
The most updated Academic Calendar with the major dates for the 2026-2027 school, including breaks and holidays, can be found on the GP Website HERE .
Communications
Great Hearts and Glendale Preparatory Academy continue to utilize the system SchoolMessenger for emails, robo calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus-related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic text feature for which you can opt-in. During the registration/re-enrollment process, families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt-in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected.
If you would like to opt out of text messages, simply reply “STOP.” Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.
If you have any additional questions, please contact the front office at 623-889-0822. We look forward to seeing you at Bookstore!
Best wishes,
Glendale Prep Leadership and Front Office Saff
