A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

We are 40 tax credits away from reaching the goal of an extra R&R weekend in May. Thank you so much for your partnership in directing your Arizona taxes to our school. It is wonderful to not only be free to choose a school for your children but free to direct money where you desire! I want to usher in the weekend with an original poem from Mrs. Kempton.

In halls of learning, where dreams take flight,
Where young minds flourish, in the morning light.
A plea we make, to families near and far,
To help our schools, like a guiding star.

When tax time comes, with its daunting decree,
Consider a gift, that’s both noble and free.
Your tax credit, a beacon of hope,
In classrooms, where ambitions elope.

With every dollar, a story unfolds,
In textbooks opened, and lessons bold.
So, dear families, hear our plea,
Direct your tax credit, to where it’ll be free.

For schools are the heartbeats of every town,
Where seeds of wisdom are gently sown down.
Let’s join hands, in this noble quest,
To give our schools what they need best.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Modified Schedule Thursday

To accommodate for ACT testing, we will have a modified schedule this Thursday. We so much appreciate the flexibility of our students during these weeks of testing. On this day, students will eat a bit later in the day, so please make sure your child packs a lunch. We hope giving the students forty minutes to complete homework is a nice concession. Please note that lunch/ Lyceum will start a little later at 12:25PM:

Mid-Quarter Progress Reports and Athletic Eligibility

This coming Tuesday, all parents will receive a mid-quarter progress report for their child, similar to last quarter. Additionally, beginning this Monday and over the course of the next three weeks, some parents will receive a deficiency notice, which will detail both how their child has become deficient (with an overall quarter grade of D or F) and what steps he or she can take to move out of deficiency. We believe the combination of Deficiency Notices and mid-quarter progress reports will help foster meaningful and effective conversations about grades.

GP Athletics will continue our grade and eligibility process this quarter. Please click HERE and save a copy to easily access information about the athletic eligibility process. Mr. Kontak and the coaching staff will inform families of all eligibility decisions and disciplines.

Tax Credit Contest

The grade level Tax Credit contest is getting close! Thank you to everyone who has already given and/or spread the word to family and friends! The grade that gets the most Tax Credits will additionally get a Spirit Wear Day and ice cream at lunch. Here is an updated total:

  • 8th grade is in the lead with 48%
  • 6th has 47%
  • 7th has 46%
  • 11th has 45%
  • 12th has 43%
  • 10th has 36%
  • 9th has 32%

Each student who refers a Tax Credit gift will continue to receive a free snack at lunch from the Snack Shack! There is still time to shift your tax dollars to Glendale Prep. Remember, you receive every dollar back, so giving your tax credit is no cost to you! The deadline is April 15th. Please reach out to Tammy Kempton with any questions at tkempton@glendaleprep.org.

Anton Uniforms- Spring Sale/ Try-on Event

Exclusive to Glendale Prep, Anton is offering a 15% discount on all orders placed April15th- 29th. Additionally, between April 30th and May 12th Anton will continue to offer the 15% discount on all orders over $200 and a 10% discount for orders less than $200.

Next year we will have a renewed focus on pants, shorts, and skirt lengths. To partner with our families, we are providing an opportunity to have girls try on skirts at GP on Saturday, April 27th from 7:30 am to 10:45 am. This will provide families with correct sizing for skirt ordering, without making a trip to Anton’s storefront in Tempe. Anton is providing us with every skirt size and we are asking girls to wear the shorts they usually wear under their skirts to make the process move as quickly as possible. To help ensure students are purchasing the correct length skirt and to make the process more convenient, we will have staff on site to assist girls in identifying the proper length skirts. Please click here to reserve a spot at this event.

For detailed information on pants, shorts, and skirt length requirements, please see this attachment and for a copy of the Anton special, please click here.

Anton understands that buying uniforms in advance can be a challenge, especially since children grow at different rates. The goal is to always provide a comfortable and well-fitting uniform, so they happily offer exchanges for up to two weeks after the start of the 2024-2025 school year (see flyer for important details). Any orders placed outside of the sale dates fall under their typical 60 Day return/exchange policy.

Spring Concerts

This year, our Spring Concerts will be on two separate nights – the Vocal Music Concert (9th and 10th grade music classes and all extra-curricular choirs) will be on Wednesday, May 1st at 6:30 pm, while the Instrumental Concert (7th and 8th grade music classes, Jazz Band and Strings) will be on Wednesday, May 8th at 6:30 pm. Both concerts will be held at Haven Church in Glendale (5902 W Cactus Rd, Glendale, AZ 85304). Students must provide their own transportation the evening of the concert and must arrive at the church by 5:00 pm on the evening of their concert. All students in curricular music classes are required to participate in the concert as a portion of their music grade. If your students are participating in the concert, they will receive detailed information from their teacher/director about the concert, but we also encourage all students and families to come to hear these fine performers share their musical gifts with you.
