A Note from the Headmaster

Greetings Parents,

As we have a few days off, a break, it is important to make sure that we use them meaningfully. It is a blessing to break away from the norm and have moments to reflect. We tend to not always do that- stop and think. For some of us, we schedule time away from “work” to force ourselves to stop and think. If not, we tend to find other work that can be done, whatever that looks like for each of us in the various aspects of our life.

However, reflection is part of being a human; it reminds us that we are more than merely beings of feelings and action. It grounds us to consider what is true and beautiful and of ultimate purpose. When I actually stop to reflect, I cannot help but find a sense of gratitude for the time and experiences I share with others and within our community.

I wish you and your family a restful Thanksgiving break and hope it provides an opportunity to reflect and cherish what truly matters.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Mr. Navarrette

Semester 1 Final Exams

As you know, the final week of Quarter 2 is devoted to Semester 1 Final Exams.  So that your students might best prepare, we would like to offer several tips to employ throughout this quarter.  It is also extremely important to communicate the final exam schedule and attendance policy for the week of conferences.

Semester 1 Final Exam Preparation Tips

  • Make corrections to graded tests and attend tutoring to review corrections with the teacher throughout the quarter.
  • Save all returned tests to study from in preparation for final exams.
  • Check in with each teacher on a regular basis and ask specific questions.
  • Utilize the free account offerings at Quizlet.com to build study materials and review in preparation for each test OR begin making index card flash cards to prepare for Q2 tests and keep them to use again for finals.  If utilized, Quizlet will then combine any selected materials to better prepare for final exams.
