| A Note From Headmaster
Hello Parents,
We have wrapped up our first week onsite! It was exhausting but certainly worthwhile. There were many challenges such as learning a new drop-off and pick-up procedure, maneuvering on campus with a new schedule, navigating locker difficulties, working sound and video for our distance learners, and remaining in grade-level designated areas. We are still working to adjust different aspects of the day, as needed. We will be solidifying a tutoring schedule by next week, which will allow students to attend tutoring during their Lyceum to seek assistance from teachers and ask questions on their homework. It has taken a bit of scheduling to ensure that rooms would be designated per grade/per course, so I appreciate the students’ patience this first week as they had to be outside for Lyceum.
Thank you to all the parents who have sent encouraging words to teachers and staff. Thank you, as well, for your smiles, waves, and hellos. I am so proud of our teachers taking on an unprecedented load in service to our children.
Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Front Office Visitors
To limit the exposure of Covid-19 to the campus we ask that students are prepared for school each day. Please ensure your child has books, homework, lunch, mask, and transportation plans before they arrive at school each morning. Lunches should only be dropped off on a rare occasion that lunch is accidentally left in the car or at home. We ask that when possible, appointments are scheduled for early release days, before school, or after school. Additionally, all PSO purchased items will be placed directly in your child’s locker if the student is an in-person learner. If the item is not there, please reach out to the PSO (since we do not have access to those purchases). As an aside, we recommend students place a backup mask in their backpack or locker. Thank you for helping to keep our campus healthy and running. Please email any Glendale Prep questions to attendance@glendaleprep.org.
Teacher Excellence Fund
Great Hearts is seeking parent and student (11th and 12th grade only) volunteers for the Teacher Excellence Fund Telethon on Saturday, September 19th. Funds raised will provide bonus compensation to our very own teachers here at Glendale Prep in their December payroll. Click here for volunteer roles and shifts available. Contact Brenna Norris at bnorris@greatheartsaz.org for more information.
Back to School Challenge Winners!
You might have noticed the 6th-9th Grade Back to School Challenge in an earlier Weekly Blast. The Sandra Day O’Connor Institute encouraged students to learn about civics topics that cover all branches of the government, as well as their rights and responsibilities as citizens. Students were then asked to share what they had learned with others through creative videos, one to three minutes in length. Finalists for each grade will be awarded Apple products such as a MacBook Pro or iPad Pro.
We are proud to announce that one of our own Glendale Prep students was a winner! Please congratulate 2nd Place 8th Grade Winner, Natalie Whipple. Click the link below to watch the winning video!

Homework Club
Homework Club is our primary non-athletic after school program. We offer a quiet, safe environment on campus for students to work on the day’s assignments from 3:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each and every school day. Teachers from our own faculty provide supervision and basic tutoring assistance, if possible. Any students from grades 6-12 are welcome and can be picked up directly from the club at any time before 5:30 p.m.
If you are interested in signing up, please find our listing on the GP Payment Portal. Please carefully read the information there, even if you have used Homework Club in the past. We have implemented new safety protocols to ensure that our students stay healthy and comfortable during their time in Homework Club. We ask that you carefully review these new protocols and let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Register here now.
As always, our first and foremost duty to our students is to ensure their safety and well-being. If there are ANY health or safety concerns you have for your child, please do not hesitate to reach out to Homework Club Facilitator and GP teacher, Mr. Kilcup at mkilcup@glendaleprep.org.

Before/After School Drop Off and Pick Up Policy
Before school, all remote and on-campus students MUST be dropped off from the Pinnacle Peak entrance. If the student is driving him/herself, they should park in the student lot in order to exit off Pinnacle Peak when their practice concludes if they need to run home to shower. All morning workouts/practices will conclude by 7:00 a.m.
After school, all off-campus coaches/students are asked to pull in on Pinnacle Peak. You may park, drop off, and pick up for early games through that entrance. Students who are already on campus will have time to change, prepare, and wait for practice to begin at its designated time.
The student check-in zone for on-campus practices is through the athletic gates and onto the gym patio. Students who fail to pass the temperature and screening will be sent home.

Game schedules are pending from the GHMSL as campuses are gathering participation data. The AIA HS Schedules are being finalized and will be uploaded to glendaleprepathletics.com next week!
