| A Note from the Headmaster
Hello Parents, I have been thinking about the difference between a job and a calling. People are at their best when they are living out their calling and not merely carrying out the responsibilities of “the job.” The role of a teacher is certainly not a role where one can merely clock in and clock out. I have been meeting with each teacher for a Quarter 1 touch base these last two weeks and will continue to do so through the first week of our return after break. I am asking a number of questions, but I am most excited to see how my teachers finish the following statement- “I am most fulfilled in my role as a teacher when…” The answers I am hearing are revelatory and refreshing as nearly every teacher so far has shared about the how much joy he or she experiences when seeing a student’s excitement when beholding beauty or learning something for the first time. Part of our mission is to train up a generation of lifelong learners who seek out and cherish what is good for its own sake. It is wonderful to know that our teachers are consistently living out this mission! Enjoy the weekend, Homecoming Dance 2022 Glendale Prep is excited to invite high school students to A Vintage Carnival Homecoming Dance. Come enjoy popcorn, dancing, and carnival games on October 22nd in the GP gym. Tickets are $15 on the portal HERE, and $20 cash (only) at the door. The dance opens at 5:30 PM and there will be no admission after 6:00 PM. There is a dance lesson from 6-6:30 PM and the dance ends at 8:30 PM. Please remember, all dress must be in accordance with the semi-formal guidelines below. In addition, this Homecoming Dance is only for current GP students. The dress code for boys is as follows:

Conferences and PowerSchool Portal Access Section-level conference sign-ups were emailed to families on Wednesday, September 14th. Make sure to sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teacher during conference week. Please reach out to Mrs. McHale at AMcHale@glendaleprep.org if you did not receive this email. Be sure to include your child’s name and either section (MS) or Humane Letters teacher (HS) so she can send you the correct sign-up link. Please make sure you are able to access your PowerSchool parent portal either online HERE or via the app with your username and password before our office closes for Fall Break on Friday, September 30th. Note that you will not be able to view grades at this time, but should be able to see the Dashboard. Technical support to assist logging in will not be available between the start of Fall Break and the opening of the portal, and will be only minimally available thereafter, so please check that you are able to log in before the break begins. If your student missed picture day, please check subsequent Blasts for information about retakes.
