A Note from the Headmaster
Hello Parents,
This past Monday was the Great Hearts Summit. It was a time for all employees in the network to come together to hear from our leaders, read and discuss poetry with folks from other schools, and find renewed hope in our calling as educators. It was a day of reminders; reminders of the great work we do as a network. Mr. Tony Cruz ended our day by bringing an inspiring exhortation. Mr. Cruz will be the Headmaster of Roosevelt Prep, our newest Prep school in Buckeye, which will open in 2022-2023. He served many years at Maryvale Prep before taking on this new role as leader of a new school.
This man is a colleague, friend, mentor, brother, and a man who makes me want to be better! I love him dearly and am blessed to know him. Here is the exhortation he gave at the Summit this week. It reveals the heart of a teacher and will certainly bring you joy.

A Good Neighbor
It is important that in everything we do, we remember to be good neighbors to those who live around our campus. Parents, you are able to park on Pinnacle Peak east of 83rd Ave, just south of the green berm of the community that corners our campus. This privilege granted by the city helps relieve traffic and allows for you to have a place to meet your students who cross the streets and arrive at your vehicle to go home. Some of you are parking around the green berm to the east and north of Pinnacle Peak in the actual community. This is not allowed; members living there and the homeowners association have shared their concern with us for years. Those living in the community will likely alert authorities who will issue citations for those parents who are parking where not permitted.
We are all representatives of Glendale Prep and Archway Glendale. Please ensure we are being being good neighbors.
Homecoming Dance
The Homecoming Dance is in the gym on 9/18 from 5:30-9pm.Tickets are $15 on the Payment Portal and $20 at the door. Doors close at 6pm. See the payment portal for details on dress code.
Picture Day
Wednesday, September 22nd is Picture Day! We are using Duke Photography this year for our school pictures. Order forms will go home with your student on Monday.
Community Investment and Tax Credit

Parent-Teacher Conferences
A communication was sent on Wednesday concerning conferences. You should have received both an email with a general overview and a separate, section-specific signup for each of your students. If you have not received these communications, please reach out to Mrs. Kimpel (lkimpel@glendaleprep.org). Conferences will be held in person this year, not via Zoom. Finally, please note that many of our teachers teach multiple subjects and grades; due to the complexities of scheduling around these obligations, it is not possible to schedule alternate times for conferences outside of the section-specific slots.

Dress Code Reminder: Non-Metal Bracelets
Parents, we are hoping for your support as we are seeing a number of non-metal motivational or religious bracelets that do not fit our dress code. We appreciate our students’ devotion to positive and encouraging messages; however, we will ask your child to remove the bracelet during the school day. We are asking that you partner with us by helping to ensure that your child is not wearing these items to school unless they are required by your religion. If that is the case, please reach out to Mrs. Kratz directly. As a reminder, our GP dress code indicates that boys will be permitted to wear one watch, one finger ring, and one necklace; girls may wear one metal, non-distracting bracelet in addition to other jewelry specified.
College Counseling
- Sophomores and Juniors are you interested in an SAT Workshop?
College Counseling is inquiring to determine interest for an SAT Workshop on the following days:
- Tuesday and Thursday (9/28, 9/30, 10/19, 10/21) 3:15-5:15pm
- Monday through Friday (12:00 – 3:00) during Conference Week
- Two SAT Practice Tests on Saturdays (9/25 and 10/23) 8:00-12:00
If there is enough interest, we are happy to offer the workshop. Fee: $399 – includes 31 hours of workshops, two practice tests, and and SAT Prep book.
