Hello,

Just this week I learned that we are fifteen percent finished with this school year. It is surprising how fast it has felt. My wife often asks me how is the day or how are things going, and I shared with her yesterday morning that I think this is our best start of a school year. This is for a number of reasons, but I will share two:

1. We have emphasized teachers welcoming students into the class, and students entering to start bell work. This practice sets the tone for student engagement, order, and ensuring a strong start to each class.
2. My team and I have had numerous phone calls and meetings with parents regarding how best to support and love their child. Genuine partnership and my call for unity are being lived out, and it is so wonderful to see.

I leave you with an invitation to share some time with me, visiting classes, and conversing with other parents and administrators. Be careful when signing up to choose the Time with the Headmaster event and not a School Tour, which is designed for families on our waitlist. This event is for adults only.

Forces of Nature Enrichment Course

Do you love our beautiful nature? Do you want to understand it better and help protect it? Would you like to be part of the Water Festival that will take place in March? We need energetic and engaged students to help make this fun activity a success!

To know more about the Forces of Nature Enrichment Course, please come to the information meeting on Friday Sept. 16th during first Lyceum in room 201. Middle and high school students are welcome!

Athletic Eligibility

GP Athletics is continuously striving for excellence in all we do. As a student-athlete, it is important that you feel both supported and encouraged as a student first. Success in the classroom is not easily achieved: it requires effort and discipline on all levels. This year, GP Athletics will continue our grade and eligibility process. Diamondbacks Great Hearts Day 2022

Great Hearts is partnering again this year with the Arizona Diamondbacks to offer a Great Hearts Day at Chase Field on September 17^th. Please see the attached flyer for details and ticket ordering instructions.

Dress Code Reminders

“We can’t see your eyes!” – Some of our young men have hair that doesn’t fit our dress code standards.  Please know that hair must NOT touch the following: eyes, ears, or collar.

If your son’s hair does reach any of these regions, please schedule a haircut or discover a way to style his hair so that he is complying with our standards.  Three infractions will result in a detention. Thanks so much for your help in this matter.

College Counseling

MIDWEST COLLEGE SHOWCASE: This virtual college fair series is taking place on two different evenings: Wednesday, September 14 at 3:00pm or Thursday, September 15 at 4:00pm. Use this LINK to register for this event and view member colleges.

TRI-UNIVERSITY EVENT: Learn more about admissions, financial aid, and the college search process at Arizona’s three public universities. Interact with representatives from ASU, NAU, and UofA on Sunday, September 18 at 2:00pm on the ASU West Campus located at 4710 West Thunderbird Road, Glendale, AZ. Register to attend this event HERE

COLLEGE REP VISITS TO CAMPUS: Come hear about various colleges and universities without leaving campus! Admissions Reps host student meetings from 12:15pm-1:00pm in the Library. You may bring your lunch. Indicate your attendance on the sign-up sheets on the College Counseling bulletin board.
