A Note from the Headmaster
Hello Parents, I want to highlight two important events that took place this week. We had our first House meeting. Students new to GP were sorted into a House and subsequent Kin. The goal of house is to live out my vision for GP- students are known and loved. Secondly, I hope everyone enjoyed Curriculum Night. Before visiting classes, Mrs. Sarbacker shared some words of mine. I want to highlight a bit of it for those who were unable to attend. “This year’s thematic goal is ‘Seek Unity- What do you desire most?’ This goal of unity and the subsequent self-reflective question is what I want to be on the minds of teachers daily… While I set thematic goals for my teachers and staff, my hope is that these goals become part of our broader community, which involves you, the parents. I would hope you too would want your children to seek excellence and not excuse. So too, I want you “labor” as you seek unity and consider the question- what do I desire most? Here is why I need you to make this goal your own- There are times in each school year where the school and the parents will disagree. I will make a decision that you might not think is best or wise, or you do not believe I have taken into consideration all factors. That is not a moment of despair or frustration or complaining, but a moment for each of us to ask and consider- what do we desire most?” Finally, suffering has a way of providing perspective. I am so thankful for my wife; her love is my rock. I am so thankful for my leadership team and all those who had to take on more in my absence this week. I want to give a special shoutout to David Elsasser, my physical therapist at OSR and GP parent, who has been guiding me through my recovery. I missed seeing you and the students and am excited to be back next week. Have a wonderful weekend, IMPORTANT!
