| A Note From the Headmaster
Hello Parents,
Yesterday we had our first of twelve “House Days”. We shifted our schedule to provide 50 minutes at the end of the day where every student was placed in a house and then broke off into groups to learn about the system and plan for the year. The House System is designed to provide roughly twenty-five students across the grades and two teachers time for comradery, team building, and friendship. The Houses will compete for points not only in our traditional field days but through various competitions throughout the year, as well, as opportunities to show their school spirit on a weekly basis. While “WE ARE GP”, we also hope the students will build a special loyalty to their House for years to come as well as form life-long relationships with both teachers and their classmates. Each House is symbolized by an animal, virtue, and seeks to live out a specific motto. The Four Houses include:House of Hyrax (The Badger); Courage; Dum spiro spero- While I breathe, I hope.
House of Lutra (The Otter); Fortitude; Virtus tentamine gaudet- Strength rejoices in the challenge.
House of Vulpes (The Fox); Wisdom; Discimus ut serviamus- We learn in order to serve.
House of Falconis (The Falcon): Dedication; Age quod Agis- Do what you are doing well. I am very excited about this new tradition at GP!Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster
Curriculum Night
We would like to invite all Glendale Prep parents to our Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 29th. This is our annual kick-off event and an excellent opportunity to meet our administration and faculty, in addition to discussing our curriculum and educational pedagogy.
Check-in will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the gym lobby followed by refreshments and our opening presentation. We will then transition to classroom demonstrations, where parents will have the opportunity to follow their child’s class schedule and observe a mini-lesson in each class. The evening will conclude by 8:15 p.m. This is a parent-only event. Please click on Curriculum Night to sign up for the event.
Arrival & Parking
The campus will open for parking at 6:00 p.m. Please do not arrive before 6:00 p.m. All vehicles will enter from 83rd Ave., and the first 60 cars will be directed to park perpendicular to the building’s main sidewalk. After these spots are filled, all parking spots throughout the lot will be available, including the student parking lot. You can see the Event Parking Procedure here. Parents should enter the building through the north gym entrance. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Leaving Early Reminder
For the safety of our students, parents are required to come into the front office and sign students out when leaving for an appointment. When arriving, please allow yourself enough time for students to be reached in their classroom, write down any homework, go to their locker, and come to the front office. The front office receives a high frequency of calls with over 590 students, especially at the end of the day. Please do not call or email to request your student be released unless you have a student driver.
Remember that Wednesdays are half days for Archway, release begins at 1:30 p.m. and on regular days they begin pick-up at 2:30 p.m. Thank you for your help in keeping all of our students safe.
