A Note From The Headmaster

Parents,

I have said this often in words, both typed and spoken over the last week: “thank you for your patience” as we work through how to improve traffic. I hope it was never heard as one of those phrases someone says but has no action. As I have spent roughly an hour each morning and each afternoon watching the madness that is drop-off and pick-up, I am seeing subtle ways we can improve. Leadership teams at both schools have some significant considerations, but it is important we take a bit more time to give parents the opportunity to get used to process and see what relief comes this week as middle school sports begins.

I am not satisfied with resigning myself to believe “this is just how it will be” given the increased volume of having all students on campus. I am also not satisfied seeing my faculty and staff labor in the heat to improve a system, while also witnessing a few parents not following the procedures and doing their own thing. I will ask you again to be patient and know we are prioritizing how to make pick up safe, efficient, and not burdensome.

Here is my advice/reminder after watching both drop-off and pick-up-

Drop-Off

  • If you have only Prep students, please enter campus by using the queue that wraps around to the North curb/by gym doors (the right lane).
  • If you have Prep students and Archway students, please drop off on only one curb and not both. We suggest using the lane with the shorter line, which is likely the right lane…but please do not change lanes after entering the campus.
  • Most traffic is cleared after 7:45am, so that might be the best time to arrive.
  • Park northeast of campus on the north side of Pinnacle Peak, and have your child walk to school. That is the only area approved for parking. Do not park north or east of the actual subdivision greenbelt or anywhere west of 83rd Avenue on Pinnacle Peak.

Pick-Up

  • Please do not arrive on campus earlier than 3:05; students are still in their seats learning and are released at 3:05.
  • Most traffic is cleared by 3:25pm, so arriving after that time might be best.
  • Park northeast of campus on the north side of Pinnacle Peak and have your child walk to you after school. That is the only area approved for parking. Do not park north or east of the actual subdivision greenbelt or anywhere west of 83rd Avenue on Pinnacle Peak.

Thank you for your partnership; I am looking forward to another great week.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Fall Tutoring Schedule

Please follow THIS LINK for the fall semester’s tutoring schedule. Middle school students are especially encouraged to establish a plan for times to attend tutoring; a copy of this schedule in your student’s planner can be extremely valuable. Please also encourage your students to bring questions, homework problems, graded quizzes, and other materials to tutoring so they can maximally benefit from the time.

Study Skills Workshop

Glendale Prep’s study skills workshop will be held on Saturday, August 21 from 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This workshop is highly recommended for 6th graders and new students, but all GP students are welcome to join. Students must wear their school uniform.
