Greetings Parents,

For my last note of this school year, I would like to quote from two seniors. Ryan Andersen spoke at our End of Year Awards Ceremony and began with these words- “Wow, we made it.” Gavin Aikins spoke at our 8^th Grade Promotion Ceremony, exhorting the rising Freshmen to “never be satisfied…keep progressing.”

Wow, what a year, and we did make it. This is a testament to the fortitude in our students, teachers, and you, our parents. We made it, and our hearts should be filled with gratitude and a sense of accomplishment. However, let us never be satisfied but keep progressing. Beginning next week, the leadership team will debrief the events from finals week and outline all we have in store for the coming school year; the goal must be to bring back traditions and events that are vital to our culture and making sure students are known and loved. These events include: student mentorship, student leadership, epic cycles, dances, field days, high school retreat, senior mini-retreat, at least one hundred home athletic events, high school symposium, drama performances, winter and spring concert, extra-curricular choirs, extra-curricular drama, robotics, coffee with the headmaster, faculty seminar, tours, homecoming, Night of the Griffin, and the list goes on. We keep progressing, are never satisfied, but will consider forming new traditions and new events that knit us together in love and build community.

Thank you for your love, care, encouragement, support, and gratitude this school year. Our community is only as great as our students, who learn what it is to desire truth, behold beauty, and live out goodness from your example.

Summer School
Glendale Prep will be offering Summer School from June 1^st through June 24^th.  All classes will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Click HERE to view the brochure.

The following classes will be offered Tuesday-Thursday 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.:

• Math Foundations (incoming 6^th graders) – Mr. Thompson
  • This class is recommended for any incoming 6^th grader who would like to get a jump start on their Middle School math journey
• Algebra I/II (rising 7^th and 8^th graders) – Mr. Selle
  • This is the perfect class for students who could benefit from additional instruction to better develop their Algebra skills
• High School Algebra (refresher for high school students) – Mrs. Christensen
  • This class is designed to help students brush up on Algebra skills necessary for success in Calculus and on standardized tests (SAT/ACT)

The following classes will be offered Tuesday-Thursday 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.:

• Literature and Composition Foundations (incoming 6^th and rising 7^th graders)- Mr. Wiebe
  • Mr. Wiebe will work with students on grammar and writing skills, preparing them for higher levels of Middle School Lit Comp
• Latin I/II (rising 7^th and 8^th graders who struggled in Latin) – Mr. Tierney
  • This class is designed to reinforce basic Latin skills for students who had a difficult time in Latin I and II and a desire to build stronger foundational skills

The following class will be offered Tuesday-Thursday 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. June 1^st through June 10th ONLY:

• Study Skills (incoming 6^th and rising 7^th graders) – Mr. Wiebe
  • This class will focus on organizational skills, notetaking, and time management

Additionally, we are pleased to share that we will offer both High School Art and Drama this summer. The High School Art Workshops will be led by Mrs. Mure. She is offering three one-week workshops between June 1^st and June 17th (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.). Students can sign up for one, two, or all three workshops. The High School Drama Workshop will be led by Mrs. LeTrent and students will perform the musical “Into the Woods.” Rehearsals will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from June 14^th through July 8^th (12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) with performances on July 9^th and 10^th.

Semester 2/Quater 4 Evaluations
Parents can expect an email with a link to the PowerSchool Parent Portal to view, save, and print Semester 2/Quarter 4 Evaluation by Friday, June 11th. The grades are only viewable for a few weeks, so please remember to save a digital copy or/and print a hard copy for your records. If you do not receive an email, please contact Mrs. Hayakawa at shayakawa@glendaleprep.org.

2021-2022 Change of Plans?
If your plans have changed and your child will not be attending Glendale Prep next school year, please reach out to Mrs. Hayakawa so she can send you the 2021-2022 withdrawal form and place you on the list to receive a textbook deposit refund. Awareness of any non-returning students helps GP with their 2021-2022 budget, and it allows us to offer a seat to a student on the waitlist eagerly awaiting to enter Glendale Prep.

Summer Office Hours
Summer Office Hours are between June 1st – July 30th, during which the office is open Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. The office will be closed for Summer Break June 25th-July 11th. We will return to full-time office hours beginning August 2nd at 7:30 a.m.

During the summer the front office staff works throughout the campus closing out the school year and preparing for the following school year (reordering and restocking supplies, submitting and requesting records, repairing textbooks, taking inventory, attending trainings, etc.) For prompt service, please email attendance@glendaleprep.org before your visit.

·   ASU Civic Leadership Institute Summer Program: For those high school students interested in taking a deeper dive into the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, this summer program is June 21 through June 25 is offering both a virtual and in-person option.
