A Note From Headmaster

Hello Families,

We have completed another successful and memorable school year! This week students completed their culminating assignment for each class and can begin to enjoy their summer break. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for our teachers. They were diligent in making sure to craft rich lessons, produce challenging assignments, and find opportunities to interact and assist our students. I want to thank my amazing team, who served selflessly to prioritize the needs of our teachers, students, and families. Thank you, Mr. Withers, Ms. Wegener, Mrs. LeTrent, Mrs. Hayakawa, Mrs. Sarbacker, and Mrs. Mooberry, to name a few. With their help, we unrolled an entire remote learning platform, handed out instructional packets, distributed devices and will gather back those devices, returned student belongings and textbooks and will gather back those textbooks, were in constant communication with families to answer questions or work through concerns, completed Senior Thesis Panels via Zoom, started a new tradition of a Matriculation Parade, put on our end of year Awards Ceremony, and we will be honoring our seniors at our Senior Tribute and eventually at Commencement on July 11th.

Parents, if you missed watching our End of Year Awards Ceremony live earlier this afternoon, you can view a recording by visiting our Glendale Prep Facebook page.

It has been an honor to serve all of you this school year. I cannot thank you enough for your commitment to your children and contributing in so many ways to making Glendale Prep a wonderful community.

Sincerely,

Mr. Navarrette

Textbook Returns & Yearbook Distribution
Please sign up to return all school-issued textbooks, as well as borrowed school items on Wednesday, June 3rd, or Thursday, June 4th. If you are missing a textbook or cannot attend the event, due to medical issues, please reach out to Mrs. Hayakawa right away. If textbooks are not returned at the event your textbook deposit will need to be used to purchase a new set for incoming students. You can view the textbook list by grade level here. Parents can SIGN UP HERE if you have not done so already; only one time-slot per family is needed.

Senior Traditions
Class of 2020 returned full of memories and experiential knowledge from their Senior Trip, were honored by a new Matriculation Day Parade, completed their Senior Thesis Defense, reflected on all that was learned at the Senior Retreat, and now they look forward to Senior Tributes. We are proud of their incredible accomplishments over the years here at Glendale Prep.

Senior Textbook Deposits can be donated back to the school by clicking here. If you would prefer a refund, senior families can expect a check from Great Hearts in 4-6 weeks.

Senior Dinner/Tribute has been rescheduled this to be an in-person student event on Saturday, May 23rd, from 7:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. in the school’s courtyard. Seniors should arrive at 6:45 p.m. They will be spaced apart to enjoy each other and hear from teachers who will honor them. We understand that not every Senior may attend, and parents would like to watch the event from home. So, we will be live streaming throughout the evening.

Junior/Senior Prom has been tentatively rescheduled Prom for Saturday, June 20th.

Senior Graduation Rehearsal is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 10th at Glendale Nazarene Church, at 10:00 a.m. Rehearsal should take approximately one hour.

Senior Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Glendale Nazarene Church, located at 5902 W Cactus Rd, Glendale, AZ 85304. We ask seniors to arrive dressed in their cap, gown, stole and tassel and be ready for pictures by 1:15 p.m. Only parents and siblings will be allowed to attend the event. We will live stream the graduation, so families and friends can share in the experience.

Evaluations
Parents can expect evaluation by the end of day Wednesday, June 3rd, via email. If you do not receive an email, please contact Mrs. Hayakawa at shayakawa@glendaleprep.org. Please remember to print or save an electronic copy of your son or daughter’s evaluation as the PowerSchool Parent Portal is scheduled to close on Thursday, June 11th.

Credit Make-Up
Per school policy, students who receive an F in the second semester of any course at Glendale Prep will be required to make up the course over the summer in order to be promoted to the next grade level. Please contact Mr. Withers at zwithers@glendaleprep.org to see about make-up classes that may satisfy a necessary credit.

2020-21 School Year
