A Note From Headmaster

Hello Parents,

I have been reflecting last week and this week about community. A community is not something that forms on its own without intention and sacrifice. In a community, members share the deepest concerns and affirm similar values. We speak of teachers as being part of a community of learners and want the same for our students. There are different relationships in a community; student to student, teacher to teacher, teacher to student, parent to parent, and parent to teacher. It is this last relationship I want to focus on. I believe what makes the parent-teacher relationship so vital to a community is if both members of the relationship share one common goal; in our community, the general goal would be to do what is best for the child/student. Communities grow stronger as each relationship grows stronger. That relationship can and should grow stronger in the face of tension, difference, and even disagreement about what is best for the child. As a parent, teacher, and administrator, I have learned that the parent-teacher relationship must be built on humility and a willingness to have discussion. Only after much discussion can there be a renewed unity in partnering to do what is best for our children. Please reach out to teachers, staff, administration, and me to discuss; it can only make each relationship grow to build a community.

Have a nice weekend,

Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

ECNA: Forces of Nature
It’s official: the ECNA “Forces of Nature” started a compost at Glendale Prep and created a little video to tell you all about it. The goal of Forces of Nature is to educate everyone on the campus to properly sort their waste and help preserve our beautiful Arizona. The video clip is as fun as informative. Parents, students, faculty, and staff… let’s watch it now: https://youtu.be/DW9OmBdrWls.

With huge thanks to the Withers Family who welcomed us to their charming farm, to Dr. Ustach for her scientific insight, and to our partner TARONIS fuels. -Thank you, Mrs. Cognet-Pereira

Glendale Prep is seeking an individual/couple to represent our academy on the 2021 Great Hearts Telethon Committee. The Great Hearts Telethon raises funds to benefit the Teacher Excellence Fund, which is distributed to our faculty as bonus compensation on an annual basis. Last year, Glendale Prep teachers received over $20,000 from this incredible event! This year’s Telethon will take place on September 25th. We invite you to be a part of something great and join the Glendale Prep’s Telethon Committee. A full description of the position can be found here. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please contact Haley Kucharo at hkucharo@greatheartsaz.org.
