A Note from the Headmaster
Hello,
I have had the pleasure of coaching our middle school boys C basketball team for the last three weeks. It is amazing how these young men and so many of our students at Glendale Prep have love, interest, talent in, and dedication for something outside of the classroom. There is a special bond players form as they train and suffer together; they must work as a team. These experiences outside of the classroom teach so much about life. I am sure you have heard this before, but I cannot stress how these young men and women feel part of the community when they invest their time and energy into something greater than themselves. Please encourage your son or daughter to find ways to connect with their peers through extracurricular opportunities, if not in fourth quarter, then definitely in the next school year.
I hope you and your family enjoy the spring break.
Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster
Re-Enrollment
It was wonderful to see everyone at re-enrollment! A big thank you to all those who turned in re-enrollment paperwork. If you still need to re-enroll, use THIS link and be sure to email your proof of residency to Mrs. Kimpel at LKimpel@glendaleprep.org. Please be aware that the address on your proof of residency must match the address on your re-enrollment form. All families should login and confirm intent to return.
Prom Save the Date
The 2022 Junior & Senior Promenade is coming up on Saturday, April 30th at Anthem Country Club.
A masquerade ball awaits students as they dine and dance among the pristine gardens and elegant rooms of the Palace of Versailles.
What should you wear?
Prom Dress Code Requirements:
Ladies:
- Tea-length (mid-calf) or full-length gowns
- Thin-strap, spaghetti-strap, and strapless gowns are permitted; however, gowns should not be ‘revealing’ or low-cut. In front, gowns may be no lower than four closed-fingers below the collarbone; in back, gown must come up to the bottom of shoulder blades.
- Bare midriffs, bare backs (below the bottom of the shoulder blades), and any other “holes” in the gown are not permitted. Sheer or “see-through” fabric over any part of the body required to be covered (midriff, lower back, etc.) is not permitted.
- Dress shoes are required and must remain on the feet the entire evening.
- Manicures that do not conform to GP Student Handbook regulations may be worn the week of Prom and must be removed within a week after prom.
- All dresses will need to be approved by Mrs. Kratz no later than Monday, April 25th. Attendees should email a photo of themselves wearing their dress to Mrs. Kratz at akratz@glendaleprep.org.
Gentlemen:
- A formal tuxedo – i.e., “black tie attire” – is very strongly encouraged; dark suits are acceptable only if absolutely necessary (see below for guidelines on suits).
- “White tie attire” (even more formal than black tie – involving a black tailcoat, black pants, white waistcoat, and white tie) is also strongly encouraged.
- No colored tuxedos allowed – black is the only acceptable color.
- Waistcoats (vests) and tailcoats are encouraged, but not required.
- Ties, vests, and cummerbunds (if worn) may be colored, if desired.
- Dress shoes are required and must remain on the feet the entire evening.
A Note on Wearing Suits Instead of a Tuxedo:
The evening is a formal event, and your attire should reflect this.
- Suits must be dark-colored and properly-fitting.
- Pants and coat must match.
- White dress shirt and tasteful tie are required.
- If you are wearing a suit instead of a tuxedo, you MUST email a picture of yourself in the exact suit, shirt, and tie you are wearing to the prom in order to have it approved by a committee of male staff members. This rule applies to non-GP men, as well. You do NOT need to email a picture if you are wearing a tuxedo. You must email the picture of you in your suit to Mr. Wiebe pwiebe@glendaleprep.org no later than Monday, April 25th.
- If you arrive at the prom in a suit that has not been approved, you will be turned away at the door.
Invitations, Dance Lesson Requirements, and Other Sign-Up Information coming soon.
