| A Note from the Headmaster
Hello Parents, There is a time for work and a time for play; a time for study and a time to jump around. – Quote attributed to Kyle Navarrette, March 4, 2022. At least one day each quarter, our Seniors have a mini-retreat on a half-day Friday. We enjoy a time of thoughtful leisure, generally seminar over a poem or shorter reading, have small group discussion, and enjoy good food. Today, we rented out SkyZone and enjoyed a barbecue at Mrs. Sarbacker’s house. Each year, our Seniors culminate their time at Glendale Prep by completing a fifteen page thesis. The due date is Tuesday, March 8th. We thought they would enjoy finding some time to relax and celebrate their months of labor. Next week, three to four Seniors will defend their thesis to a panel of teachers. All other Seniors will defend their thesis with about three weeks of the school year left. The goal is to spend the last three to four weeks of Quarter 4 cherishing the remains days, reflecting upon the past, and anticipating the joy for the future each will have when he or she leaves GP. It is a special time and a special season for these students. Please join in congratulating the class of 2022 for completing the written portion of their Senior Thesis. All current Glendale Prep sixth through eleventh grade families received an email on March 1st regarding the process of re-enrollment for the 22/23 school year. Prom Save the Date Save the date for 2022 Junior and Senior Promenade! Saturday, April 30th 2022 A masquerade ball awaits students as they dine and dance among the pristine gardens and elegant rooms of the Palace of Versailles. Invitations, dance lesson requirements, and other sign-up information coming soon! H2O Fest 2022 Glendale Prep is hosting its first H2O FEST on March 26th 2022 in the GP Courtyard. Join us to celebrate and help preserve our most precious resource: water! This is a FREE FAMILY EVENT! There will be fun and discovery for ALL AGES, with activities and demonstrations by our beloved science teachers, a conference about Arizona water resources, and food! Please let us know you are coming by signing up HERE. Tax Credit Thank you to those families who have already participated in our 2021 Arizona Public School Tax Credit drive! Your Tax Credit helped support Glendale Prep’s Chamber Singers win ‘Superior,’ the highest award at the Northern Arizona University Madrigal Jazz Festival. In addition, Isabella San Pablo, Cooper Nicholas, and Samuel Stanca qualified for the coveted Arizona West Regional Choir. If you have yet to make your Tax Credit contribution to Glendale Prep, there’s still time. You have until April 15, 2022 to make this important contribution to our school and still receive your contribution back as a dollar-for-dollar credit off of your Arizona Tax Bill. Griffin Players Present Clue The Griffin Players will present Clue, a madcap mystery-comedy based on the movie based on the board game. Mr. Boddy’s dead body is found in Boddy Manor, and nobody knows who did it and somebody will be next! Could it have been Miss Scarlet with the dagger in the dining room? Was it Colonel Mustard with the wrench in the library? Our cast, on the GP stage, killing it? There will be only one performance open to students and the public TODAY, Friday, March 4th at 7:30pm in the GP gym. Tickets to the Friday performance are $10 for students and $15 for everyone else and are available HERE and at the door. Mentorship Attends Griffin Players We’re excited that our mentors will be attending the Griffin Players play Clue alongside any new students on Friday March 4th. This play is a madcap mystery-comedy based on the movie based on the board game. Please have all new students interested in attending for FREE with their mentor at school on Friday March 4th before 7:15 pm. Mentors and new students will meet in the courtyard before heading in together. It is worth noting that the mentorship program is covering the cost of all mentors and new students, but any other attendees will need to pay for their own tickets (HERE). You are encouraged to attend, as well, while your student enjoys the camaraderie with his or her mentorship group. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mr. Trerise at rtrerise@glendaleprep.org. Lost and Found Is your student missing that favorite lunchbox or water bottle? How about his or her GP sweater or notebook? Please direct your children to the lost and found to collect any missing items; the lost and found will be purged after school on March 11th. Senior Panels Senior Thesis Defense Panels are quickly approaching! All panels will consist of two main parts: 1) The Thesis Presentation- a brief presentation (of about 10 minutes) in which the student will highlight the essential ideas of the paper; and 2) The Thesis Panel Discussion- a panel of three faculty readers will be convened to conduct a discussion with the student about his or her Thesis. Parents are invited to attend. Please enter through the front office. Next week the following students will have their panels:
