A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

Is there anything of greater value than integrity? If one has integrity in his or her life, what else matters? I have been thinking about the virtue of integrity and how it applies to responsibility, ownership, and accountability. As parents and educators, we are the foundational instructors for and models of integrity for our children and students. However, we might find that we hope our children “do as we say, not as we do.” I exhorted my teachers this week to consider if there is any standard to which they are holding our students but not living out themselves. How can we require students to meet deadlines, strive for excellence, avoid excuses, and not complain if we do those ourselves? I am asking you to consider the same question. How do we as parents affirm the need for integrity, taking ownership for actions, and humbly accepting consequences for our children if we find we are unwilling to do that ourselves?

Our community is indeed unique in that, almost always, parents partner with the school to affirm the value need for integrity. It is a blessing to call a parent, share what happened, and agree together with the plan for accountability and restoration, trusting the love we have for all students. I thank you for this partnership in affirming what I believe matters most- our children growing in goodness and integrity.

* Additionally, I want to thank all of you who have filled out the Great Hearts parent survey that was sent on Monday. If you have not yet had a chance to complete the survey there is still time; your feedback is eagerly sought and valued.

Thank you,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Pickup and Lunch/ Lyceum

Glendale Prep Lunch and Lyceum runs from 12:05-1:05 each regular school day. During Lyceum students are able to see teachers for tutoring, gather in the courtyard, sit in a quiet or a silent study room, or even kick a ball around on the field. Be aware when making appointments and other family plans that if you arrive to pick up your child during this time it make take the front office considerable time to find him or her. Please make plans accordingly.

Dinner and the Arts

We are very excited that on March 5th we will have our first annual Dinner and the Arts parent event. Come in semi-professional attire to enjoy appetizers, mingle with other parents, and behold beauty. After sharing dinner together, we will enjoy a performance of Clue put on by Griffin Players. The night will wrap up with dessert and mingling with the cast. We hope you can join us for this community event.

Please purchase tickets HERE. Below is the tentative schedule for the night. THIS IS NOT A FUNDRAISER; the cost of each ticket covers food, admission to see the play, and other supplies. The cost is $25 a ticket. This event is exclusively for Glendale Prep parents.

Dinner and the Arts; March 5, 2022

5:00-5:45 Appetizers and Drinks; Studio art and music exhibition and demonstrations
5:45- 6:30 Italian Buffet Dinner
6:30-8:00 Clue put on by The Griffin Players; casted by GP students
8:00-8:30 Dessert and time with cast

Griffin Players Present Clue

The Griffin Players will present Clue, a madcap mystery-comedy based on the movie based on the board game. Mr. Boddy’s dead body is found in Boddy Manor, and nobody knows who did it and somebody will be next! Could it have been Miss Scarlet with the dagger in the dining room? Was it Colonel Mustard with the wrench in the library? Our cast, on the GP stage, killing it?

The performance will be on Friday, March 4th at 7:30pm in the GP gym. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for everyone else and are available HERE and at the door.
