A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

I am very excited to share about a “parent only” community event. It is important we do not merely talk about community but are intentional about bringing families together. On March 5th, we will have our first annual Dinner and the Arts parent event. Come in semi-professional attire to enjoy appetizers, mingle with other parents, and behold beauty. After sharing dinner together, we will enjoy a performance of Clue put on by Griffin Players. The night will wrap up with dessert and mingling with the cast. We hope you can join us for this community event.

Please purchase tickets HERE. Below is the tentative schedule for the night. THIS IS NOT A FUNDRAISER; the cost of each ticket covers food, admission to see the play, and other supplies. The cost is $25 a ticket. This event is exclusively for Glendale Prep parents.

Dinner and the Arts; March 5, 2022

5:00-5:45 Appetizers and Drinks; Studio art and music exhibition and demonstrations
5:45- 6:30 Italian Buffet Dinner
6:30-8:00 Clue put on by The Griffin Players; casted by GP students
8:00-8:30 Dessert and time with cast

Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Tax Credit

Glendale Prep’s athletic program is made possible with your generous support of our Tax Credit campaign.  GP athletics, along with academics, are critical to the cultivation of both the minds and hearts of our students.  Participating in sports builds courage, responsibility, integrity, perseverance, honesty, friendship, humility, and leadership.  We need your support in continuing this great work!  Your generosity through Glendale Prep’s Tax Credit drive ensures that we are able to provide not only our athletics program, but also our vibrant enrichment and character-building programs for all students.  The deadline to give your 2021 Tax Credit, and still receive $400 off your Arizona State Tax Bill, is April 15th, 2022! Please support our student athletes by clicking here!  Want to double your gift?  Many employers will match your tax credit contribution.  Ask your Human Resources Department to find out.  Please contact Cathy Sparks in Academy Giving at csparks@glendaleprep.org for more details.  Thank you for supporting athletics, as well as GP’s other enrichment and character building programs!

Robotics

This Saturday, February 5th, at Canyon View High School in the West Valley near Waddell, the two robotics teams at Glendale Prep, Unscheduled Disassembly (#18421) and Metal Masters (#18420) are competing in a First Tech Challenge qualifying tournament.  Team 18420 qualified for State in the last competition and both teams earned second place overall.  We are hoping for Team 18421 to make it to State this competition and for both teams to win in the Finals Knockout round.

Each season there is a new game revealed where each team designs, builds, programs, and tests a robot. The matches begin at 10:30 am and end around 2-2:30 pm with a break around 12:30 pm for lunch. It is free and open to the public, though masks will be required for all participants and spectators. The teams would appreciate any support.  A live stream of the event can be found at this link.  A combined YouTube channel can be found here.  A twitter page with some pictures and videos of our progress can be found here. Please contact Mr. Roper at broper@glendaleprep.org with any questions.

If your student has interest in joining the team in the next season, watch for information in the Blast post- season.
