A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Families,

I am so thankful for the semester we have shared together. This week brought high energy and much joy. The students finished well, and I am sure they are very excited for time with family and the much-needed rest the winter break will bring. I hope this break will bring time for reflection and encourage us to show forth hearts full of gratitude. It is important for me to update our community regarding one of our beloved teachers. Dr. Bookhout had open heart surgery this morning. The surgery went well. We are hopeful for his recovery, but I do request you keep Dr. Bookhout and Mrs. Bookhout in your thoughts and prayers over the next number of weeks.

Thank you for your trust and partnership! Have a wonderful holiday together.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Semester II Schedules/ Semester I Grades

Semester 2 schedules were handed out to students on Tuesday. Please be sure your child keeps his or her schedule in a safe place for easy retrieval and a smooth start to the new semester on January 4th! Quarter 2/ Semester I evaluations will be ready after we return from break. Look for an email signaling that the parent portal is open to view grades in the days after school resumes in January.

Middle School Dance: Once Upon a Time

We are excited to announce the middle school dance will be 6:00-8:00 pm on January 19th. All 7th and 8th graders are invited to attend a much-anticipated dance party! The theme is Once Upon a Time. Tickets are $30 CASH ONLY at the door, and parents will need to sign a paper permission form in person before student entry to the dance for those who did not pay on the portal.

Phones should be brought in a zip top baggie marked with the student’s name.

Tax Credit

Did you know you can receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your Arizona taxes? The Arizona Public School Tax Credit allows Arizona taxpayers to contribute to the public school of their choice and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on their state taxes!  Your tax credit contribution supports our extra-curricular and athletic programs, field trips, and character-building programs. Married couples can contribute up to $400 and single filers may contribute up to $200 each year.

All Arizona taxpayers can take advantage of the Arizona Public School Tax credit and support our school whether they have a student at GP or not. We ask every family to contribute their Tax Credit and invite your friends and family to help support GP as well! Use this link to Donate to Glendale Preparatory Tax Credit Drive. Please reach out with any questions to Tammy Kempton, Family Giving and Community Engagement Officer, at tkempton@glendaleprep.org or 623-889-0822 ext. 1502.

College Counseling

PSAT SCORES are available and can be viewed on a student’s personal College Board account. If a student provided their mobile number during the PSAT exam set up, they will receive a text message with access to the BigFuture School mobile app where they can also view their score. Please utilize your Khan Academy account for free practice tests.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exams will take place at Scottsdale Prep in the spring and are open to all high school students who wish to self-study and sit for an exam. Please note that AP exams are not part of our curriculum, nor is there an expectation from colleges that our students report AP scores.

Registration is a two-part process:

1.       Students/parents go to Scottsdale Prep’s Configio to select and pay for exam.

2.       Student logs-in to their College Board account and input the ‘active join code’ found on the Configio site when they paid for the exam.

The cost is $138.00 per exam by March 1st, 2024. Participants should bring non-mechanical number two pencils and a personal calculator to the exam.
