A Note from the Headmaster
Hello,
What a week! Our high school students enjoyed a time of leisure during our high school symposium. Mr. Fuller was our keynote speaker, and our seniors led a seminar with underclassmen. I am sure you noticed how festive our students were for Spirit Week. The energy was certainly felt throughout the school day!
I hope to see you tonight at our 2024 Homecoming Game. We anticipate a huge crowd cheering on our Varsity football team as they make their final push for a playoff berth.
Enjoy the weekend,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster
Picture Retakes
Picture retakes will be the morning of Monday, October 28th. Retakes are only for students who purchased pictures and did not like them OR students who were absent on picture day.
Please help us minimize time out of class by letting us know that your child will be participating in picture retakes. Only students who were absent on picture day or are signed up on the Sign-Up Genius HERE will be pulled from class. Please indicate your child’s name in the “Student Name” section. If your student was absent there is no need to sign up.
Semester 1 Final Exams
As you know, the final week of Quarter 2 is devoted to Semester 1 Final Exams. So that your students might best prepare, we would like to offer several tips to employ throughout this quarter. It is also extremely important to communicate the final exam schedule and attendance policy for the week of conferences.
Semester 1 Final Exam Preparation Tips
- Make corrections to graded tests and attend tutoring to review corrections with the teacher throughout the quarter.
- Save all returned tests to study from in preparation for final exams.
- Check in with each teacher on a regular basis and ask specific questions.
- Utilize the free account offerings at Quizlet.com to build study materials and review in preparation for each test OR begin making index card flash cards to prepare for Q2 tests and keep them to use again for finals. If utilized, Quizlet will then combine any selected materials to better prepare for final exams.

College Counseling
PSAT/NMSQT Dates: Students take the PSAT as a practice test for the SAT. Additionally, this test allows for the top 1% to qualify for a National Merit Scholarship.
10th grade: Wednesday, October 30th, 2024
11th grade: Tuesday, October 29th, 2024
October College Rep Visits: We host college admissions representatives from many colleges and universities throughout the year. These visits are held during lunch and lyceum in Room 706. 9th-12th grade students interested in learning more about these schools are invited to attend. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the admissions representative from schools where your student may wish to apply. Often, these representatives conduct the first read of our students’ applications, so personal interaction before applying is beneficial. Please have your child sign up on the sheet posted on the College Counseling bulletin board. Our upcoming visits are:
Biola University: Monday, October 21st, 2024 – 12:15 PM-1:00 PM
Westmont College: Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024 – 12:15 PM-1:00 PM
