Hello Glendale Prep Families,
What an honor it has been to witness our senior class mentors serve and support our middle school students this school year.
As part of our renewed commitment to the moral formation and community life at the heart of our classical mission, Glendale Prep has revived its long-standing Student Mentorship Program. The program seeks to foster leadership and service among our upperclassmen while building bridges of friendship and guidance for our middle school students.
This year, 50 upperclassmen have volunteered their time and energy to this meaningful tradition. Over the past few weeks, mentors have invited 6th graders to shared Lyceum sessions for games and fellowship, attended middle school athletic events in support, and today, during first
Lyceum, crafted and taped festive notes to 6th grade lockers, inviting them to a special get-together next Tuesday, October 28.
As the program continues to grow, mentors will guide middle schoolers in preparing for final exams through study skill workshops and peer encouragement. We are delighted to see this tradition reestablish itself as a living expression of our community’s care for one another, a bond that we have seen last well beyond graduation with many of our GP alumni.
With a smiling heart,
Mrs. Janssen

FINAL EXAMS
Final exams are a culmination of the material students have learned through the entirety of the first semester and account for 10% of a student’s final grade in each course. Please schedule appointments and vacations outside of the final exam testing window.
Students who miss a final exam due to illness with a doctor’s note will make up any missed final exams in January, on a given date. Unexcused absences or illness without a doctor’s note will result in the score of a zero for any missed final exam.

SAFETY- FIRE EVACUATION
To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we held a fire evacuation drill yesterday. This exercise is part of our standard emergency preparedness protocol, which is conducted regularly as required by both the State of Arizona and Great Hearts. Evacuation drills prepare students and staff to move safely and efficiently to a designated location in the event of an emergency, which could include scenarios like a fire, a mechanical failure (such as a power outage), or other threats. You can find exit maps in every classroom and room, and we appreciate your support in helping your children understand the importance of these safety procedures.

CELEBRATING THE ARTS AT GLENDALE PREP
(Insert photo of Mr. Collum here)
A Great Hearts education offers students a rich, well-rounded curriculum that includes daily exposure to the Fine Arts. Whether through Art, Drama, Music, or Poetry, our scholars not only develop their creative skills but also gain an appreciation for the history and significance of each discipline.
Today, we are delighted to highlight Mr. Collum, one of our exceptional Art teachers at Glendale Prep! In the photo above, Mr. Collum guides students as they create their own drawings inspired by Winslow Homer’s watercolor Native Hut in Nassau (1885), a beautiful tropical landscape from the Bahamas.
It is through generous contributions to Community Investment that we are able to retain outstanding teachers like Mr. Collum and continue offering a classical education enriched with the arts every day.
To learn more about Community Investment, or to make a gift, please contact Tammy Kempton, Family Giving Officer, at tkempton@glendaleprep.org, or click the link below to donate today.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and teachers!
