A Note From Headmaster

Hello Parents,

It was such a great first week back. Our high school students spent Monday listening and discussing O Pioneers. We welcomed 120 students back to campus, and our pickup procedure and timing has been running smoothly and efficiently. This is a testament to our partnership and shared work in providing a meaningful experience for our children.

I want to remind you of my mission for Glendale Prep as we start Quarter 2. Glendale Prep is a place where students are known and loved. All that we do, every intention, and our culture must be to this end. My prayers and hopes are that we fulfill our mission while also knowing, in humility, that we must work to be better daily. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me to encourage and share how we indeed can carry out our mission of knowing and loving each and every student.

With gratitude,

Mr. Navarrette

PSAT 9th-11th Graders
Prior to the PSAT, we will hold a Pre-Administration Session to have students fill out their identifying information on the answer sheets. This will reduce extra test day activities and allow the students to focus on the test the day of the PSAT.

  • Brick and Mortar students will complete their pre-administration session during their Humane Letters’ class on campus.
  • Students who are Distance Learning and wish to sit for the PSAT on October 29th filled out their Pre-Administration Session this past Tuesday evening.

If your student is unable to complete the Pre-Administration Session, they will not be able to participate in the PSAT on Thursday, October 29th at 8:00 a.m. Please be sure your student gets plenty of rest the night before, eats a good breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

Community Investment

Thanks to the ongoing contributions of our parents to Community Investment, the Humane Letters Symposium on Willa Cather’s, O Pioneers, and middle-school seminars on The Magician’s Nephew, All Creatures Great and Small, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight were a huge success! Mr. Withers, Ms. Wegener, Mrs. LeTrent, Mr. Tierney, Dr. Ustach, and guest speaker Mr. Crowe lead the High School Symposium, while our incredible middle-school teachers lead the way for mind-expanding seminars. GP scholars pursued Truth, Goodness, and Beauty through all. These are the foundations of Glendale Prep!

Uniform Policy Reminder
Beginning Monday, November 2nd, only pants and skirts may be worn to school. Shorts may not be worn again until after Spring Break. As a reminder, gentlemen may not wear white or ankle socks with pants. “Socks must be dark or tan in color, solid-colored, and free of logos or patterns.” The last day to wear shorts will be Friday, October 30th.

Picture Day
Brick & Mortar Students
Simplify Picture Day by ordering online at mylifetouch.com using Picture Day ID: EVT33P26S prior to picture day, Wednesday, November 4th. Additional background options and products are available for purchase, and there is no need to send your order form back to the school when ordering online. If you prefer to pay with a check or cash, please instruct your student to give their order form directly to the photographer, please DO NOT turn them into the front office. Please have seniors wear their blazer and tie for the picture.

Distance Learning Students
We want YOU in the yearbook! There are two ways to get your photos in the yearbook:

  • Make an appointment to go into the Lifetouch Studio on 12/10, 12/11, or 12/14 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Call 480-296-2880 extension 4 or
  • Take a good quality picture of your student following the guidelines below and email it to our Yearbook Coordinator, Mrs. Park, at your earliest convenience at lpark@glendaleprep.org
    • Pictures must be from mid-chest and up.
    • The background must be neutral and solid in color.
    • Students must follow all uniform guidelines including hair, jewelry, make-up, etc. Click here to review the Family Handbook uniform policies.
    • Seniors are asked to wear a blazer and tie.

Students must comply with the Family Handbook for pictures to be accepted for the yearbook. IF a picture is submitted and doesn’t meet the GHA criteria, it will be rejected and a request to submit a new one will be made.

College Counseling

  • THE YOUNG LEADERS YOUTH SUMMIT: This virtual event is for students ages 12-18 taking place on December 19-23. Click the link for application information.
  • PSAT DAY: On Thursday, October 29th, all 9-11th grade students will be taking the PSAT. Please be sure your student gets plenty of rest the night before, eats a good breakfast, and arrives to school on time.
  • SENIORS:  Make sure you have completed the FAFSA as soon as possible. Colleges and universities utilize this form to determine financial aid and many require it on file to distribute merit aid scholarships.
  • SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, AND SENIORS: Remember to frequently check the College Counseling Google Classroom for valuable information regarding upcoming events and assignments.

Pick Up & Drop Off
Dismissals continue to be staggered, not all students will be ready for pickup on the curb at the beginning of dismissal, and students must be picked up at their grade level location. If you are picking up multiple students in different grades, we strongly recommend you arrive on campus at the time of the student with the latest dismissal time, because vehicles will be waved to keep moving in the passing lane and cannot wait in the designated student waiting area. Click here to view the drop-off and pickup procedures and map.

If you have children at both Archway Glendale and Glendale Prep, please drop them off at the same location. Vehicles that drop off students on the north curb near the Glendale Prep gym, should NOT continue to the east curb to drop off additional students. Archway Glendale’s leadership strongly recommends that families dropping off both Archway Glendale and Glendale Prep students use the east curb only.

Front Office Visitors
To limit the exposure of Covid-19 to the campus we ask that students are prepared for school each day. Please ensure your child has lunch, books, homework, mask, water bottle, and transportation plans before they arrive at school each morning. Lunches should only be dropped off on the rare occasion that lunch is accidentally left in the car or at home. Additionally, all PSO purchased items will be placed directly in your child’s locker if the student is an in-person learner. If the item is not there, please reach out to the PSO (as we do not have access to those purchases). As an aside, we recommend students place a backup mask in their backpack or locker. Thank you for helping to keep our campus healthy and running. Please email any questions to attendance@glendaleprep.org or call 623-889-0822.
