A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

In our Wednesday faculty meeting this week, the last week of the quarter, I found myself sitting down in front of teachers and staff. Generally, I stand, move, and display a lot of energy, but I was so tired. I asked for a show of hands if my teachers were tired. We laughed together as each hand was raised with inquiring eyes seeking desperately for affirmation that one was not alone in his or her exhaustion.

The break is bringing a much needed rest for you, students, and teachers. Rest finds its meaning and enjoyment only when one’s work is completed and completed well. It would not be fitting for one to sigh, breathe heavily, and hunch over in exhaustion at the finish line if he did not run the race. Our breaks are a time of celebration because we completed not only a work but a good and noble one. Commend your children for their completion of Quarter 1; exhort them to consider if they indeed completed their work well. We will see you all again during Conference Week to do this very kind of reflection, examining the work of the past and setting goals for the next leg of the race in Quarter 2.

But, until then, enjoy the week of rest!

Thank you for sharing this quarter with us and trusting us to “work“ each day with your child.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Community Investment

Before we part for fall break, we want to wholeheartedly thank all of our GP families who have generously given to this year’s Community Investment campaign!  Your investment in our students and teachers supports the great work going on in our Humane Letters classrooms.  For those who have yet to contribute to Community Investment, we ask you to thoughtfully consider how your gift can make an impact for our students and teachers.  This annual fund covers the gap between what we need to deliver the top-tier education that our children deserve, and what we receive from public funding.  The truth is, Glendale Prep simply cannot attain the measure of all we do without the continued support of our committed families.  Please contact Academy Giving at csparks@glendaleprep.org for more details.

YOUR GIVING IS NOT ABOUT MAKING A DONATION…IT IS ABOUT MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

Great Hearts Telethon

Thank you to all of our Glendale Prep families who gave to this year’s Great Hearts Telethon!  Together we raised $600,000 for the Teacher Excellence Fund.  If you were unable to join us you can watch the recorded broadcast here (go to 3:48 – 4:18 to watch our Glendale segment).  Thank you again for helping us make this year’s telethon a huge success!  If you have yet to contribute to the Teacher Excellence Fund, please contact Academy Giving at csparks@glendaleprep.org for more details.
