A Note from the Headmaster
Hello Parents,
I wanted to update all families regarding the cell tower permit progress, as I know the possibility of it brings great concern to a number of our families, which then could have a significant impact on our community. I am assuming all families are aware, but if not, here is a brief summary: Our neighbors to the West have applied for a special use permit to place a 5G cell tower on their property. The request is for a permit that would reduce the offset distance from property lines, so that the tower would be adjacent to the school’s property line. A number of parents have expressed concerns for a variety of reasons including: health, safety, aesthetics, property values, and the list goes on. Regardless of whether or not you personally share any concern about the proposed site for a cell tower, its existence would certainly disrupt our community. Any number of parents withdrawing or teachers leaving would bring heartache, because each soul matters!
Just last month, the planning and zoning hearing led to a unanimous vote against permitting the cell tower; on Wednesday of this week, Maricopa Country Supervisors also unanimously voted against the special use permit for the cell tower. Mrs. DeStefano and I were blessed to attend both hearings and experience first-hand this wonderful news. I am incredibly grateful for her partnership and fervor in seeking out what is best for our schools, as well as the many other parents who have banded together to preserve our wonderful community.
Again, regardless of what position you may hold, losing any members of our community or having those who remain worry about a cell tower is not ideal and very concerning. Less spotty cell service is not worth the heartache this possibility brings to many families. We will continue to update you as needed, but I thought it would be good to help summarize our efforts and celebrate the results of the two hearings.
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Navarrette

Project Week
The week of October 7-11 is dedicated to an important part of our Glendale Preparatory curriculum, Project Week. All GP students will complete an independent study assignment at home (reading and writing) on a specific text related to a particular subject in their grade’s curriculum. Specific assignment information will be given to students the week prior to Project Week. It is important to note that the assessment of these projects will be reflected in Quarter 2 grades and evaluations for the subject area specific to that grade’s assignment. Students should expect to spend approximately 20-25 hours working on their assignments over the course of Project Week. Please support your children in planning a reasonable study schedule for that week to ensure that adequate time and effort is devoted to the completion of this important assignment.
