A NOTE FROM THE HEADMASTER
Dear Glendale Prep Families,
Today, students and faculty paused to remember the events of September 11, 2001. During our morning announcements, students heard the following message:
“Students. On this day, we remember the 3,000 people who lost their lives due to the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. This was a great tragedy in our nation, but one that we also remember for how thousands of law enforcement officers, paramedics, EMTs, firefighters, and American citizens came together to help those in need. Let’s honor those lost and those that served by demonstrating kindness to one another on this day and each day going forward. Thank you.”
In the spirit of remembrance and gratitude for our country, our High School mentors and 6th grade mentees came together to line the halls with notes of patriotism and reflection. Student lockers were adorned with reminders of the courage, unity, and sacrifice this day calls us to honor. It was a beautiful expression of the kind of civic virtue we hope to cultivate in every GP student.
May this weekend be one of rest and reflection, as we give thanks for the courage and sacrifice that continue to shape what it means to be a citizen of our great republic.

The Countdown Is On: Community Investment Launch Week Begins September 21!
As we settle into the rhythm of another wonderful school year, one thing continues to stand out; the incredible strength of our Glendale Prep community. From the first day of school to Curriculum Night, athletic events, and daily life on campus, we have been reminded how blessed we are to partner with families who care deeply about our mission and our students.
In just 10 days, we will kick off one of our favorite traditions of the year: Community Investment Launch Week, taking place September 21–25.
This year’s theme, Unity in Our Community, celebrates what happens when Griffin families come together in support of a shared purpose. Every day, our students experience the benefits of a classical education that challenges them to pursue Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Community Investment helps make that experience possible.
Throughout Launch Week, you’ll learn more about how Community Investment supports the people and programs that make our academy exceptional; from attracting and retaining outstanding teachers to providing rich academic opportunities, classroom resources, athletics, fine arts, and so much more.

New Student Practicum
This week, sixth graders and new students learned about test taking strategies. They learned how to use a study guide to help them better prepare for assessments.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Save the dates! October 5-9
A separate Conference Sign-Up email will be sent to families next week. Be sure to sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teachers!
Middle School conferences are for parents only.
High School students will attend their conferences and must be in uniform. Junior and Senior students will lead their conferences and must also be in uniform.
Project Week
The week of parent teacher conferences is also project week for our students.
High school students will enjoy the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, which will be handed out and started together in class on Monday, October 5. Students will finish the text independently the remainder of the week.
Middle school students will enjoy a different project this year, focusing on America 250.
Specific instructions will be handed out prior to Fall Break.
Upon our return from Fall Break, both Middle and High School students will conclude project week with respective Symposia on Wednesday, October 21.

After an amazing turn out for our football home opener on Tuesday September 8th, we will be having our Home Coming Football Game on FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 25TH. We will be offering hamburger or cheeseburger meals to include a bottle of water for only $4 or $5!!!! The football team will be taking on ALA-North Mesa in a game that is sure to be just as amazing as the last game! Quantity is limited, so get here early to get yours!

Students interested in engineering and technology are invited to attend Explore Fulton, the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering’s most specialized prospective-student event. Grade-Level College Counseling Information Nights
Our College Counseling Department is excited to welcome students and parents to our annual grade-level information sessions! These evenings are designed to provide families with a clear roadmap for the college planning process and outline what students should be doing at each stage of high school. While attendance is not required, it is strongly encouraged to help ensure your student stays on track for college success. All sessions will be held in the Archway Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) from 6:15–7:30 p.m.

Students and families interested in the U.S. Service Academies or careers in military service are invited to attend Service Academy Information Day, hosted by Congressman Abraham J. Hamadeh. Meet representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy while learning about admissions, the congressional nomination process, and the many opportunities available through military service.
