A Note from the Headmaster

Hello,

Our campus has not felt the same these last few days with our high school students at retreat in Williams, Arizona, at the Lost Canyon camp. Our largest group ever, over 300 students, 14 teachers, and 30 parents, have been enjoying the cool weather and making so many memories. I want to give a special shout out to Mrs. Haley for coordinating this event on top of her Office Manager responsibilities, Mr. Overson for leading the cleaning crew, and to all our faculty and parents who volunteered. Attached are some photos for everyone to enjoy!

Tonight is our first home football game! It will be our first game under the permanent field lights. I hope to see you all tonight in your Hawaiian shirts!

Sincerely,

Mr. Navarrette

Headmaster

Missing Assignment Academic Reporting for 6th-9th grade

In an effort to strengthen our partnership with parents, we are trialing a Friday communication that will alert you as parents of any missing, late, or incomplete work turned in by your student over the past two weeks.  While students may no longer have the opportunity to make up the assignments noted in the report, we believe the report provides an opportunity to reset for the weeks remaining in the quarter. Some parents will receive a report in a Friday email if their child had a missing, late, or incomplete graded assignment during the reported timeframe; others will not receive any report if their child turned in all graded assignments. We are only sending reports for 6th-9th grade students, as we believe our older, more mature students are responsible to maneuver homework expectations and can communicate directly with parents about needed support or plans of action. If you have questions, please reach out to Mrs. Dausend or Mrs. Janssen.

Family Giving

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  I hope you had a restful summer, and your students are settling into the new school year! My name is Tammy Kempton, and I am the Family Giving and Community Engagement Officer for Archway Glendale and Glendale Prep. Family Giving Officers are an on-campus resource to support parent philanthropy through annual campaigns. My role is to raise funds for our school that make our educational model possible. Two ways in which we do this is through Community Investment and the Arizona Public School Tax Credit. I love being a part of the Glendale community and connecting with each family!

I look forward in partnering with you throughout the school year to support our great academy! Please feel free to reach out with any questions at tkempton@glendaleprep.org or 623-889-0822 ext. 1502. Thank you for your support and I hope you have a great school year!

Dress Code Reminders

Tonight is our first home football game of the year, and we are looking forward to a wonderful turn out. Listed below are the expectations for dress code during the event. Please know that if a student arrives at an athletic event in an unacceptable shirt or short shorts, they will be given a GP shirt to change into. If they do not change, they will not be admitted. If they change back to unacceptable attire after being allowed entry, they will receive a detention.

Shirts:

• Shirt must be modest, loose fitting, in good repair (no holes, torn sleeves, cutting of the fabric etc.), and should be worn either tucked in or well over the waist of the pants/shorts if not tucked in.

• No midriffs may be shown.

• T-shirts are preferred—no tank tops, camisoles, or sports bras may be worn as outer-garments.

• Sleeveless shirts may be worn if modest.

Pants/shorts:

• Pants/shorts should be modest, in good repair (no holes, torn sleeves, etc.), and worn at the waist.

• Shorts should be no shorter than mid-thigh, and no-longer than just below the knee

• No short-shorts or long baggy shorts may be worn.

• No boxers or undergarments may be visible.

Attire should be free of inappropriate messages. Sports team logos (e.g., Diamondbacks, Notre Dame),and apparel brand names (e.g., Adidas, Nike) are acceptable, provided they do not make inappropriate allusions. These guidelines also apply to sweatshirts and jackets that students may wear.

No overly tight or revealing clothing should be worn.

These visits are held during lunch and lyceum in Room 706 and 9th-12th grade students who are interested in learning more about these schools are invited to attend. This is a great opportunity to meet the admissions representative from schools where your student may wisht to apply.
