A Note from the Headmaster
Hello,
We did it! The first two days of school were so wonderful. We are certainly full, clearly over-enrolled which makes for great energy and many more smiles and laughter. I was blessed by a message a teacher sent me after the first day of school, which is worth sharing with you:
There was SO MUCH positive talk about students in the faculty office today! People sharing how much they loved meeting new students, and when a name was mentioned, teachers in that student’s past would all say, “Oh! I love _____,” and then share something specific that they love about that student. This school is so special. I don’t know if people know how uncommon it is! There are teachers’ lounges from my past in which I would not even set foot because there was so much negative talk about kids. GP is amazing!
I cannot tell you the joy and blessing it was to read this message. This is what I have envisioned for our community and hope will continue- students are known and loved! Thank you for your trust and partnership; these students are wonderful because of your commitment as parents.
I end with sharing about our new faculty and staff; we are so excited to welcome these folks to our community and hope you can do the same:
Nti Bradley: Mr. Bradley is our new college counselor. Already this summer, he has enjoyed time with many seniors in our College Counseling Bootcamp; we are so excited for what he brings to our college counseling department.
Kimberly Carney- Mrs. Carney will be serving in our ESS department as a math and reading interventionist. She and her family recently moved from the East Valley where they were part of the Lincoln Prep community, another Great Hearts academy.
Ethan Crabb: Mr. Crabb is an alumnus of Glendale Prep, recently graduating from Biola University. He will be teaching 6th grade Science and 12th grade rhetoric this year.
Jennifer Dodd: Ms. Dodd joins us as an EL Teacher, serving in ESS, and will be teaching 11th grade poetry.
Savannah Foy: Ms. Foy will be teaching 9th grade Biology this school year. She is an alumna of Anthem Prep and recently graduated from Grand Canyon University.
Jessica Innes: Mrs. Innes taught most recently at Scottsdale Prep and will be teaching 10th grade Humane Letters and 11th grade Drama.
Angela Peart: Ms. Peart is teaching 8th grade Earth Science. With years of experience teaching, she is eager to share that Earth Science is her favorite subject!
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Tutoring

Textbook Covers
As you know, the cost of school supplies can really add up! We want to take good care of the materials and supplies that are provided to us, so it is our expectation that all school-owned, hard-back textbooks will be covered either with purchased book covers or heavy paper (such as grocery-store paper bags). This expectation was announced to students yesterday and today, and we will be following up on Monday in class. Please help your child cover his/her school-owned textbooks this weekend.
Books & Supplies
Please ensure your students have the necessary consumable books and class supplies and are ready for our first full week on Monday. You can find the book and supply lists on the GP Website or directly through this link.
Middle School & 9th Grade Homework Spreadsheet
In the spirit of continuing our family partnership in building student ownership and responsibility, teachers will be posting the daily homework for all middle school and 9th grade courses. Parents are invited to use this spreadsheet to confirm students are using their planners, completing assignments, and studying for upcoming tests and quizzes. All homework is announced and posted daily in each class; student planners should match that which teachers have posted online. See link.
Dress Code Reminders
We were delighted to see our student community back on campus, showing kindness as well as attention to the dress code. Parents, please ensure that skirt and shorts hems are touching the top of the knee, not above. Please email the deansofstudents@glendaleprep.org if you would like contact information for options regarding alterations.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend, Mr. Hayward and Mrs. Mure
