| A Note from the Headmaster
Hello Parents, We had our end of year awards ceremony today and then had some time to share together to close out another school year. In the assembly, we honored a number of students with an emphasis on the Arete Awards. Here is a list of the awards: The Griffin Award is given to the student-athletes who stand out in their striving for true excellence on the field, on campus, and in the classroom. These students have distinguished themselves through outstanding athleticism, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and commitment to the ideals of the academy. The Sapientia Award is given to students whose academic excellence is clearly driven by a love of learning. Not just technically proficient, and not primarily motivated by grades, these students are known for their joyful and receptive attitude to the subject of study, their humility in the face of difficult intellectual questions, their depth of inquiry in a given topic, and their authentic sense of wonder. The Augustine Award is given to students who have shown outstanding perseverance in pursuing the ideals of the academy and, as a result, have experienced significant growth in virtues of intellect and character. Through their attitude and efforts, they exemplify the spirit of Glendale Preparatory Academy. The Humanitas Award is given to students who help build authentic and vibrant community while on campus. These students show an open-handed generosity of spirit in their interactions with classmates, faculty, and staff at Glendale Preparatory Academy. Their community spirit grows out of a sense of purpose: not simply aspiring to belong to a group but to strive together for the good. They have charity for others, contribute to the school culture through their attitude and actions, and show integrity under pressure. We have such wonderful students, and that is a testament to your parenting and partnership. I cannot thank you enough for your trust in our school, its mission, its leaders, our amazing teachers, and staff. I very much hope you have a wonderful summer! Sincerely, Summer Office Hours Please be aware of our abbreviated summer office hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM- 1:00 PM. We are closed completely on holidays and from June 23rd- July 10th. Have Your Plans Changed? Have your plans changed for next school year? We are over-enrolled for 2023-2024. If you plan to withdraw, please do let Mrs. Kimpel know immediately, so we can plan and she can return your textbook deposit. Early Reminder for 2023-2024 Uniforms This is an early reminder to please check your child’s uniforms as you plan for next school year. We have noticed that many pants and skirts were too short. Remember that skirts should be no more than two inches above the knee. Shorts are allowed until Fall break and after Spring break. Summer School 2023 Glendale Prep will be offering Summer School from June 7th through June 30th. This year, we will be offering courses in middle school Math and Latin, high school Math, and two courses designed for incoming students in Math and Study Skills.
