A Note from the Headmaster
Greetings Parents,
Disclaimer- The final blast is very long, but I hope you take time to read it.
For the last blast of the school year, I wanted to bring our minds back to what I shared at Curriculum Night in August regarding the thematic goal, “Partnership with Vision”, and I posed a question to reflect upon as a group- “What will Glendale Prep be like for your grandchildren?” My exhortation for our community was to not be blinded by the little things, moments of stress or frustration, or desires for contentment that might be fleeting, but to rather keep in mind the ultimate goal…the heart of these young souls.
Our theme naturally fits with my first ever headmaster blast from October 4, 2018, where I shared a quote from my favorite book, The Chosen. There is this powerful moment where a father seeks to teach his son about the meaning, purpose, and significance of a person’s life, even in a world full of suffering. He presses his son to consider this: a blink of an eye in itself is nothing; but the eye that blinks, that is something. A span of life is nothing; but the man who lives the span, he is something. He can fill that tiny span with meaning, so its quality is immeasurable though its quantity may be insignificant. A man must fill his life with meaning; meaning is not automatically given to life. It is hard work to fill one’s life with meaning- that, I do not think you understand yet. A life filled with meaning is worthy of rest.
My hope and prayer for this school year is that our students did indeed feel known and loved each and every day, and that they will work to find meaning and significance to their lives as they grow to become life-long learners who desire truth, love beauty, and seek goodness with their whole heart.
I wish you and yours a wonderful and restful summer.
Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster
Farewell to Faculty
We have a number of teachers leaving, and so I want to honor them and share a summary of their next chapters, so we can keep them in our thoughts and prayers. :
We are so thankful and will miss:

Dr. and Mrs. Bookhout, who have taken a choir director position at Camelback Bible and a teaching position at Veritas Preparatory Academy, respectively.
Ms. Foy, who will continue her education in pursuit of becoming a doctor.
Mr. Harrah, who will remain serving as priest of St. Alban’s.
Mr. and Mrs. Maratea, who will be moving to Notre Dame where Mr. Maratea will pursue his Ph.D. and Mrs. Maratea will continue teaching.
Mrs. Millikan-Mobbs, who will be moving to Michigan to be closer to family and continue teaching.
Ms. Park, who will be moving to Canada to continue teaching.
Mr. Selle, who will be working full-time as a private tutor and leading homeschool co-ops.
Mr. Tierney, who is retiring after fifty years of teaching!
Dr. Ustach, who will be retiring as well, but we always find a way to call her out of retirement…we will see!
These great-hearted educators have been a blessing to GP. I am so thankful for all of them, and we wish them well on their next endeavors.

Note From The Health Office
It is a privilege to work with you and your students to help them stay healthy during the school year. For us all to have a smooth start to the new school year, we are sharing some helpful information.
Please plan ahead and schedule an appointment with your student’s provider this summer to get:
· State mandated immunizations
· New ASTHMA Action Plan for 25/26 school year.
· New Diabetes School Management Plan for the 25/26 school year.
· New Allergy Action Plans for 25/26 school year and non-expired EPI Pens.
· New Seizure Action Plans for 25/26 school year.
· New Migraine Health Care Plan
Other important information to note:
· We cannot accept EPI pens/Albuterol/seizure medication without the corresponding Care Plan that is filled out by a Physician.
· You must provide 2 EPI pens.
· All medication needs to be in original packaging and have the prescription label with the student’s name on it.
· All medication needs to come with a Consent to Dispense – filled out by the parent.
· Health Concerns do not carry over from previous years and must be entered with each enrollment and re-enrollment. It is helpful for us to know about any significant medical history that may cause students to visit the Health Office, including allergies, sensitivities, anxiety, hypoglycemia, anemia, GI or urinary problems, concussions, etc.
· We’ll do our best to remind you about expiring medication but please help us and add remainders in your own calendars.
· And most importantly students may not carry on their person or in their locker any medication either over the counter (OTC) or prescription (unless it is life saving and student has been approved to “self-carry” by the Headmaster). Medication has to be dropped off and picked up by an adult. “Violation of these policies places the student and others at great risk of personal harm, and as such, will result in disciplinary action.” The policy can be found in the Family Handbook.
Families of students with medication currently in the Health Office will be provided with printed copies of 25/26 school year forms when they pick up the medication at the end of the school year.
If you would like to contact us for any reason or would like a digital copy of any of the necessary forms, please email nursingteam@archwayglendale.org.

Family Giving
Thank you to everyone that has supported Community Investment! Every dollar donated stays at Glendale Prep to deliver a classical education and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Your commitment to our mission fuels everything we do. Together, we are shaping hearts and minds for a brighter future. If you have not yet had the chance to give, there is still time to help us reach our goal. Glendale Prep receives $1500 less per student per year from the state of Arizona than public district schools in our area. Your gift allows us to continue to provide the rich curriculum we do. Please use this link to donate today: Donate to Glendale Preparatory Community Investment. Questions? Please reach out to Tammy Kempton, Family Giving Officer, at tkempton@glendaleprep.org. Thank you!
College Counseling
What To Do During Summer: Summer is approaching, and Students are curious about what they can do during the summer. The following are a few options for summer programs here in Arizona:
In partnership with the Truman Presidential Library’s White House Decision Center, the ASU Center for American Institutions is pleased to offer high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors an opportunity to join us on the ASU Tempe campus on Thursday, July 24, 2025 for a High School Leadership Academy on “Ending the War With Japan.” The program will challenge students to step into the roles of President Harry S. Truman and his advisors to debate how and when to end the war with Japan and by extension end World War II. The goal of the exercise is for students to read declassified historical primary documents and discuss the issues surrounding President Truman’s decision. Students are not led to one or another conclusion; rather, as a group they are to reach a decision of their own on the topic. More information can be found here .
