A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

I wanted to use this blast to share some reminders and to provide a “heads up” for those who like to plan ahead. See the helpful list below for an easier read:

  • We have a social media night this coming Monday at 6:00pm.
  • We communicated this past Wednesday that half-days for the 23-24 school year will end at 12:15pm with pickup taking place at 12:20pm.
  • There is NO SCHOOL on May 12th.
  • The last week of this school year will be half-days ending at 12:45pm. We will not be ending earlier on these day as we did the last week of Semester I, nor will be combining pickup with Archway. Pickup for the final week of school will be as any normal half day.
  • We are over-enrolled for the 23-24 school year. If you plan to withdraw, please do let Mrs. Kimpelknow immediately, so she can return your textbook deposit.
  • We have 1-2 faculty/staff positions open for next year. If you know of anyone who would be a wonderful addition to our community, please have them reach out to me. Even if we do not have the position that fits best this year, there is always next year. We want the best people, and recommendations from parents carry a lot of weight.

There are so many other events in May; it is super busy. However, please do not hesitate to reach out to me in these final weeks.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Great Hearts Day of Giving

Celebrate Glendale Prep’s incredible teachers by joining Great Hearts DAY OF GIVING on Wednesday May 10th!

The level of education offered at Glendale Prep makes us one of the most sought-after schools in Arizona, and we simply cannot attain the measure of all we do without Community Investment. In truth, our teachers rely on Community Investment to provide the essential support needed to continue to transform and cultivate the minds and hearts of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty!

DID YOU KNOW:

  1. Community Investment supports the operational needs of teachers by bridging the gap between what is received from public funding versus the actual cost to operate a classroom.
  2. Teachers begin each school year with a $1,500 per student deficit from what public schools receive in funding, impacting opportunities inside the classroom.
  3. Your commitment to Community Investment helps our headmaster, Mr. Navarrette, budget for and fully fund the exceptional educational opportunities given to our students through the Great Hearts classical liberal arts program of study.
  4. 100% of the monies received from Community Investment stays at Glendale Prep!

Support our teachers and help us reach Glendale Prep’s DAY OF GIVING goal of $20,000!  Simply CLICK HERE and be a part of something great!

8th Grade Promotion and Dinner

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony: It is our pleasure and honor to invite you to the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on Wednesday, May 24th at 5:00pm in our gym. Due to limited seating, we are asking that students limit their guests to parents, siblings, and grandparents. Guests will be admitted at 4:45pm through the gym lobby doors and parents are welcome to take pictures when their student receives his/her gift from Mr. Navarrette. Please note that we will not be providing photographs of this event.

8th Grade Dinner:  The Hamberlin family has graciously offered to host this special event on Friday, May 12th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and are asking that all students RSVP HERE through the GP Parent Portal. Information regarding the location will be emailed on May 8th to all who RSVP’d and no new RSVPs will be accepted after this date.

Please see the GP email that went to all 8th grade families for details and information on dress code. Note that it is the responsibility of the student and parents to ensure the dress code is followed for 8th Grade Promotion and 8th Grade Dinner. Any student not adhering to the dress code will be denied the privilege of participating in that event.

We look forward to honoring our 8th graders!

Senior Thesis

Senior Thesis and Defense Panels are an integral part of the high school experience at Glendale Prep. Students have worked for almost a year on their Senior Thesis. All panels will consist of two main parts: 1) The Thesis Presentation- a brief presentation (of about 10 minutes) in which the student will highlight the essential ideas of the paper; and 2) The Thesis Panel Discussion- a panel of three faculty readers will be convened to conduct a discussion with the student about his or her Thesis. Parents are invited to attend. Thesis panels will be at 3:30 (1:20 on Wednesdays) in the GP Library or at 3:45 (1:35 Wednesdays) in room 408. All panels last 60 minutes.

The following students will have their panels next week:
