| A Note from the Headmaster
Hello Parents, I wanted to ask for your help with finding great people to join our Glendale Prep Community. I am fully hired for next year besides filling roles as ESS aides. Many of you might know, but we are fully committed to providing a classical, liberal arts education to all students at Glendale Prep. Some students have various challenges that can make completion and success in our honors curriculum very difficult. We have a wonderful department in ESS who help support students, so they can enjoy and engage with the same content as all students. As we have grown in size as a school, we are finding more and more students need extra support, which we are blessed to provide by loving and thoughtful adults who come along side a student. The best individuals for these positions are parents, alumni, and friends in our community who are committed to our same mission and uphold our same values. If you or someone you know would be interested in joining our charismatic team, “don’t delay; apply today!” Sincerely, Spring Concerts This year, our Spring Concerts will be on two separate nights – the Vocal Music Concert (9th and 10th grade music classes and all extra-curricular choirs) will be on Wednesday, May 1st at 6:30 pm, while the Instrumental Concert (7th and 8th grade music classes, Jazz Band and Strings) will be on Wednesday, May 8th at 6:30 pm. Both concerts will be held at Haven Church in Glendale (5902 W Cactus Rd, Glendale, AZ 85304). Students must provide their own transportation the evening of the concert and must arrive at the church by 5:00 pm on the evening of their concert. All students in curricular music classes are required to participate in the concert as a portion of their music grade. If your students are participating in the concert, they will receive detailed information from their teacher/director about the concert, but we also encourage all students and families to come to hear these fine performers share their musical gifts with you. Anton Uniforms- Spring Sale/ Try-on Event Exclusive to Glendale Prep, Anton is offering a 15% discount on all orders placed April15th- 29th. Additionally, between April 30th and May 12th Anton will continue to offer the 15% discount on all orders over $200 and a 10% discount for orders less than $200. Next year we will have a renewed focus on pants, shorts, and skirt lengths. To partner with our families, we are providing an opportunity to have girls try on skirts at GP TOMORROW, Saturday, April 27th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. This will provide families with correct sizing for skirt ordering, without making a trip to Anton’s storefront in Tempe. Anton is providing us with every skirt size and we are asking girls to wear the shorts they usually wear under their skirts to make the process move as quickly as possible. To help ensure students are purchasing the correct length skirt and to make the process more convenient, we will have staff on site to assist girls in identifying the proper length skirts. Anton understands that buying uniforms in advance can be a challenge, especially since children grow at different rates. The goal is to always provide a comfortable and well-fitting uniform, so they happily offer exchanges for up to two weeks after the start of the 2024-2025 school year (see flyer for important details). Any orders placed outside of the sale dates fall under their typical 60 Day return/exchange policy. Senior Thesis and Defense Senior Thesis and Defense Panels are an integral part of the high school experience at Glendale Prep. Students have worked for almost a year on their Senior Thesis. All panels will consist of two main parts: 1) The Thesis Presentation- a brief presentation (of about 10 minutes) in which the student will highlight the essential ideas of the paper; and 2) The Thesis Panel Discussion- a panel of three faculty readers will be convened to conduct a discussion with the student about his or her Thesis (of about 45 minutes). Parents are invited to attend. Thesis panels will be at 3:30 (12:45 on Wednesdays) in the GP Library or at 3:45 in room 408. The following students will have their panels next week:
College Counseling ASU SUMMER PROGRAMS: If your student is a high school student or a rising high school student, ASU offers a variety of summer programs located on various campuses including the Barrett Summer Scholars Program. FULTON ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING AT ASU SUMMER PROGRAMS: For STEM oriented students, Fulton is offering a variety of engineering related summer programs. Athletics Spring Sports Awards: On May 15th we will have the spring sports awards in the GP gym Middle school from 5:30-6:30 HS from 6:30-7:30 more information to come!
