A Note from the Headmaster
Hello Parents, Next week begins a month of standardized testing. Given our philosophy and goals of education, it can be easy to see these days as nothing more than something taxing on parents and students. However, we very much believe our mission should prepare students to do well on these mandatory tests, even if we are not “teaching to the test” in direct ways as our district school counterparts, or if the content does not align with our curriculum. We do encourage you to partner with us to remind students to do their best, take time to consider the correct answer, and desire to perform well. You can also share that Mr. Navarrette would love to praise them to his headmaster counterparts as being “the best” in some friendly competition conversations between schools. We know that a test does not sum up the heart and labor of our students; at the same time, we very much want them to take a healthy pride in doing well on these tests! Enjoy the extended weekend, Quarter 4 Tutoring Schedule The Spring semester tutoring schedule has been updated! Please ensure your student: (1) gets a good night’s sleep, (2) eats a nourishing breakfast, (3) arrives to school on time, and (4) has no appointments scheduled during his or her testing time slot. Please see the charts below for details: Language Testing Students will be taking part in the National Foreign Language Exams in the upcoming weeks during their regularly scheduled foreign language class. This is a very exciting opportunity for Glendale Prep students, as they have the chance to compete against other students across the country and overseas. Due to the standardized nature of the test, it will not be possible to reschedule the test if your student is absent, so it is important that your student is present on the day of their scheduled foreign language class. Please refer to the chart below for the dates of the various tests.
