A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

I was talking with Mrs. DeStefano this week, and she shared how for track athletes, the third lap is the most difficult. This analogy certainly makes sense when it comes to a school year. Quarter one is about the excitement of meeting teachers and rekindling friendships. Quarter two is full of energy to finish out the semester and enjoy a long break. In Quarter three, which tends to be the longest, there is not really a sense of seeing the finish line, but it simply feels like a grind. This is true for students and teachers. Quarter 4 is a mad dash through the finish line.

I am very proud of the work of our students and our teachers. Our teachers are exhausted and rightfully so. Whenever you give of yourself as they do for the sake of excellence, it should be difficult.

We have one more week and then spring break!

If you can find the time, please take the parent survey; it only takes a few minutes. Based on the results so far, we have the most percentage of parents who have replied out of any other Prep school in our network. I certainly want to win, so please use the link above to take the survey.

Thank you,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Current 6th-11th Grade Re-Enrollment

Re-enrollment should go live this evening! You will receive an email when it is open. Secure your student’s spot for the 2024-2025 school year by following the instructions in that email and by completing the re-enrollment packet on the Enrollment Portal and bringing in all the required items during one of our available slots HERE.  Please sign up for only ONE time slot PER FAMILY! Reach out to Mrs. Edmiston or call the front office if you need to make alternate arrangements for drop off.

THIS PROCESS IS QUICK AND EASY! Simply print out the re-enrollment packet one-sided, and bring it to the GP gym lobby during your scheduled time slot. You will also need to bring in one Arizona Residency Document (we prefer a driver’s license or utility bill with your current address). The document you provide must list the physical address where the student resides and should match the address in the re-enrollment packet. NEW THIS YEAR: The document MUST also list the name of the person who signed the AZ Residency Form in the re-enrollment packet.

Re-enrollment materials will not be accepted or marked complete if any of the required materials are missing.

We look forward to seeing you at re-enrollment!

Family Survey- CLOSES TUESDAY

You recently received an email to complete the annual family survey; please do take a few minutes to complete it. Your opinion is important to us and we appreciate the honest feedback.

You can access the survey by using the link HERE .

The survey will remain open until Tuesday, March 5th.

State Mandated Standardized Testing

Standardized testing begins on Monday, April 1st and will run through Friday, April 19th. While we understand there are illness and appointments that arise, we appreciate your help in making sure your student is present during testing times as much as possible. We will have an adjusted schedule for the week of April 8th – April 12th. The testing/class schedule is included in the chart below. If a student leaves campus during a test, he or she will have to submit the unfinished test and will not be able to complete it. Testing will be administered by grade level and make up testing will be completed at the earliest time available upon a students’ return to school.

Please ensure your student: (1) gets a good night’s sleep, (2) eats a nourishing breakfast, (3) arrives to school on time, and (4) has no appointments scheduled during his or her testing time slot.

Language Testing

Students will be taking part in the National Foreign Language Exams in the upcoming weeks during their regularly scheduled foreign language class. This is a very exciting opportunity for Glendale Prep students, as they have the chance to compete against other students across the country and overseas. Due to the standardized nature of the test, it will not be possible to reschedule the test if your student is absent, so it is important that your student is present on the day of their scheduled foreign language class. Please refer to the chart below for the dates of the various tests.

Please ensure your student: (1) gets a good night’s sleep, (2) eats a nourishing breakfast, (3) arrives to school on time, and (4) has no appointments scheduled during their testing time slot.

Middle School Epic Cycle: The Death of Baldr

Join us TONIGHT, Friday, March 1st from 7:00 to 10:00 PM, for a night of games, music, and epic storytelling! All middle school students are invited to attend. Snacks will be provided, and students are encouraged to bring their favorite board games to enjoy with friends and teachers. The highlight of our evening will be a theatrical retelling of The Death of Baldr, a beloved Norse myth.

Tickets are available on the payment portal HERE for $20 through 5:00 PM TONIGHT. Tickets are $30 CASH ONLY at the door and parents will need to sign a paper permission form in person before student entry to the epic cycle for those who did not pay on the portal.

Dress Code: This is not a uniformed event. Coverage should be the same as the standard middle school uniform and in accordance with Non-Uniform Dress Code for Special Events on page 51 of the Family Handbook. No large distracting logos. Students are encouraged to dress warmly, and to wear gym-appropriate athletic shoes. House shirts are also recommended!

Cell phones must be brought in a zip-top baggy clearly labeled with the student’s name.

Students must be picked up from the event by 10:15 PM.

Please email Mr. Kilcup at mkilcup@glendaleprep.org with questions.
