A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

For this hiring season, I shared my open positions with teachers with the hope that they might know someone who can join our community or if they might have had interest in teaching a different subject/grade. I thought I could utilize parent help as well. Hiring has been well underway for the 2025-2026 school year. Our remaining openings are in our ESS department, which serves students with various challenges. We are in need of one to two more ESS aides, who assist our special education teachers and coordinators in serving students one-on-one or in small groups. This is an hourly position that can be either part-time or full-time. If you know of anyone who has a heart to serve and can live out my vision for GP, knowing and loving students, please have him or her reach out to Mrs. Janssen, who is both an assistant headmaster and our ESS lead. Her email address is rjanssen@glendaleprep.org. Thank you for your support in making our school the very best!

Sincerely,

Mr. Navarrette

Headmaster

Robotics

This Friday and Saturday, one of our GP robotics teams Metal Masters, will be taking part in State Competition for the FIRST Tech Challenge at Embry Riddle in Prescott.  At the last competition, Metal Masters took 1st place and now holds the State Record of 348 points.  Wish them luck as they try to hold onto the state record and win a ticket to the World Competition.  The event consists of matches where two alliances of two robots each will compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge game “Into the Deep”, performing many tasks to score points in 2.5 minute matches.  The event is free and open to the public from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday on the Embry Riddle Campus.  The matches will be streamed live from this YouTube channel.  Contact Mr. Roper with any questions: broper@glendaleprep.org.

The Great Hearts College Symposium: This is an excellent way for families of 10th and 11th grade students to explore and interact with multiple colleges in a single event. Admissions representatives will give presentations on essay writing, financial aid, and more on Saturday, March 1st, from 3:15 PM to 6:00 PM. We strongly encourage all 10th and 11th grade students to attend the Symposium.

This event is held at Scottsdale Preparatory Academy (16537 N. 92nd St., Scottsdale, AZ 85260). To register, please go to StriveFair.com, where you will receive a personalized barcode for entry. All students must wear school uniforms when attending this symposium.

ASVAB: The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test will be offered to all students on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, after school at 1:00 PM. Testing will last approximately three and a half hours, and students must be picked up at 4:30 PM.  The ASVAB is a standardized test to assess a student’s aptitude for various occupations. While it can provide valuable insights into potential career paths, participation is voluntary. We understand that some parents may be concerned about the ASVAB, particularly its potential for military recruitment. Please be assured that, as a school, we do not send ASVAB information to any military office for recruitment. However, the option to send scores for military recruitment will be made available. Please only complete this OPT-out form if you want to prevent your child from participating.
