A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

This Wednesday was Field Day! Whether rain or shine or tons of rain, Griffins always persevere. I am so thankful for the flexibility of our students and teachers to make adjustments in light of the increased water level in Lake GP. I want to give a special shout out to Mrs. Mure for her help with House shirt distribution; Mr. Dyer for taking on a fun musical chairs event; Mr. Fuller for running a successful and competitive quiet ball; and to Mr. Selle and Mr. Hayward for adjusting bucketball and ultimate frisbee. We began and ended our ceremony in the gym!

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Good Neighbors

Some of our neighbors have shared a concern about our parents driving through personal easements or community-maintained dirt roads when driving to and from school. Please avoid using these roads if you can, or make sure to drive at a reasonable speed so as to not turn up the dirt. We want to be good neighbors.

Cell Phone Policy

Parents, the cell phone policy regarding students after school is as follows:

Students are not to be on their phones while walking through a crosswalk or waiting for the light to change.

Students waiting on the curb for pick up can only use their phones to call or text for a ride or to call or text their parents.

Cell phones should not be used in any other way. Teachers have been instructed to take a cell phone for misuse and place it in the front office for parents to receive directly. Students will also receive a detention.

2023-2024 High School Retreat- Portal Open

Plans are well underway for 2023-2024 High School Retreat, and we want to have 100% student attendance. The primary goal of the retreat is to provide time and space away from the classroom for high school students to build relationships among their peers and with their teachers. The tradition behind this annual retreat is one example of carrying out our vision for Glendale Prep to be a place where students are known and loved. Cost and dates are listed below; note that the price increases on July 1st. Please pay on the payment portal using THIS link.

Here are the details for the event:

Middle School Epic Cycle

Join us Friday, February 24th from 7:00 to 10:00 PM, for a night of games, music, and epic storytelling!  All middle school students are invited to attend. Snacks will be provided, and students are encouraged to bring their favorite board games to enjoy with friends and teachers. The highlight of our evening will be a theatrical retelling of The Lay of Thrym, a beloved Norse myth.

Dress Code: This is not a uniformed event. Coverage should be the same as the standard middle school uniform. No large distracting logos. Students are encouraged to dress warmly, and to wear gym-appropriate athletic shoes.  House shirts are also recommended!

Tickets are available HERE on the parent portal for $15 through February 12th and $20 thereafter through 5:00 pm the day of the event. Tickets are $25 CASH ONLY at the door and parents will need to sign a paper permission form in person before student entry to the epic cycle for those who did not pay on the portal.

Cell phones must be brought in a zip-top baggy clearly labeled with the student’s name.

Please email Mr. Kilcup at mkilcup@glendaleprep.org with questions.
