A Note From the Headmaster

Greetings Parents,

My last blast was encouraging you to take a survey because your perspective as a parent is vital. I recently learned that the surveys have yet to be sent to you by Great Hearts, thank you for waiting patiently. I would like to invite you to consider spending time with me personally throughout the year to share about your son or daughter’s experience. We will be calling the time, “Coffee with the Headmaster”. I do not drink coffee, but it will be there for you!The time will be personal, intimate, and may include a tour, class observations, and small group discussion. We will need to limit the number of parents to seven. We will meet from 10:15-11:15 a.m. and the dates will be as follows: October 11, November 15, December 13, January 24, February 28, March 20, April 3, and May 15. I look forward to seeing you there! Know that if you would like to meet and are unable to attend these scheduled times, please reach out.

Have a great weekend,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

College Counseling
PARENTS: Note the following dates and place them on your calendar. Each of these evenings offers unique and significant information for college planning pertinent to specific high school class year. Students should plan to attend with at least one parent. All meetings will be held in the Archway MPR.

  • Sophomore Night – Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 p.m.
  • Freshmen Night – Wednesday, September 18th at 7:00 p.m.

Save the Date! Tuesday, October 1st we will be having a FAFSA Workshop for Junior and Senior Families. More details to come!

Be sure to check the College Counseling page on Glendale Prep website and the College Counseling bulletin board for upcoming college fair and college rep visits.

Autism Research & Resource
This year, Archway Glendale and Glendale Prep will be working with the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) on a project regarding a universal screening for social challenges at public schools. The idea is that screening children for social challenges early and identifying and addressing those challenges will have a significant positive effect on their school experience. We plan to take a role in the research that SARRC is doing in this area this year with our 8th grade students. You are also invited to a Q&A session with Mr. Navarrette, Great Hearts’ Director of Exceptional Student Services, and a representative from SARRC regarding the project. At this session, you will hear more about the work that SARRC and Great Hearts have already done and plans for the project in the future. The Q&A session is scheduled for Thursday, October 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the Archway Multipurpose Room. We look forward to seeing you there!
