A Note From Headmaster

Hello Parents,

This last Friday was a Senior Retreat, which historically has been off-campus with food, seminar, and fellowship. We have had to be creative this year in making these traditions meaningful for this graduating class. One Senior Retreat was in the spirit of Field Day. This past Friday’s Senior Retreat was in the spirit of The Festival of the Arts where students competed in a Music Challenge, Theatre Challenge, and Art Challenge. Winners were announced at the end! I want to thank Mr. Maratea for taking the lead on this event; so many teachers also spent time making this day memorable for our Seniors. Here are some pictures from the event.

Sincerely,

Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Senior Thesis
Senior Thesis Defense Panels are quickly approaching! All panels will consist of two main parts: 1) The Thesis Presentation: a brief presentation (of about 10 minutes) in which the student will highlight the essential ideas of the paper; and 2) The Thesis Panel Discussion: a panel of three faculty readers will be convened to conduct a discussion with the student about his or her Thesis. Parents are invited to attend. Please enter through the front office.

Next week the following students will have their panels:

Senior Student Date & Time
Nathan Whiting Monday, May 3rd at 3:30 PM
Jonathan Krause Monday, May 3rd at 3:45 PM
Arlen Alter Wednesday, May 5th at 3:45 PM
Rachel Howell Thursday, May 6th at 3:45 PM
Dylann Johnson Friday, May 7th at 12:30 PM

House Spirit Day
It’s time to compete for honor, glory, and bragging rights! This coming Early Release Day, on Friday, May 7th, students are encouraged to show their House Spirit–the house with the most student participation WINS!

Students must wear: uniform shoes, a uniform belt, and uniform pants/shorts/skirt. Students have the option of wearing either their house shirt or their uniform shirt.

How else can students show their House Spirit?

  • Students CAN wear: ribbons, hair clips, hair accessories, headbands, scrunchies, sweatbands, scarves, bandanas, *house color nail polish, *house color temporary hair color, house inspired jewelry, house color socks, or house animal socks. Encourage them to be creative! Students CAN have props. BUT, NO weapon-like props; and props must be removable from their person and capable of fitting inside of their locker, if needed. (Props should be stored during class so learning is free from distraction.) Students CAN wear hats! BUT, their hats must be OFF during class.
  • Students CANNOT wear: full-face coverings, sunglasses, face paint, brand logos/pop culture references.

*Nails and hair must be back in uniform on Monday, May 10th.

If you have any questions, please be sure to reach out to Mrs. LeTrent for assistance. We hope to see a colorful campus bursting with House Spirit on the 7th!

ECNA: Forces of Nature
It’s official: the ECNA “Forces of Nature” started a compost at Glendale Prep and created a little video to tell you all about it. The goal of Forces of Nature is to educate everyone on the campus to properly sort their waste and help preserve our beautiful Arizona. The video clip is as fun as informative. Parents, students, faculty, and staff… let’s watch it now: https://youtu.be/DW9OmBdrWls.

With huge thanks to the Withers Family who welcomed us to their charming farm, to Dr. Ustach for her scientific insight, and to our partner TARONIS fuels. -Thank you, Mrs. Cognet-Pereira

Quarter 4 Deficiency Notices
Quarter 4 Deficiencies were sent out this week. If your student receives a Deficiency Notice, please talk it over with your child so a plan of action can be put into place for future success. Students are encouraged to reach out to their teachers to follow up with a plan to improve. Teachers are always available to help students during tutoring hours.
