Music

Instrumental Music at Glendale Prep consists of middle school curricular classes, in which all students learn basics of music theory and history while engaging in music performance through the recorder consort.

Beyond the classroom, students have the opportunity to join the GP Orchestra or GP Jazz Band, both of which rehearse once weekly during Lyceum. Participation is open to all students who already play a standard concert band or orchestra instrument, and those who wish to play in the jazz band on rhythm instruments (guitar, piano, bass, and drums) must audition at the beginning of the school year.

Enrichment courses in Music

The required concert uniform is described in the Family Handbook. A full year commitment is expected. Members are required to attend and participate in the semester concerts (Dec 7 and May 3), as well as other opportunities that may occasionally be scheduled (e.g. singing the National Anthem at a game, singing in an assembly, etc.).
