A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

I will use this blast to share from my perspective as a parent and as leader of our school.

My family and I are going on a vacation for the first time in a very long time. We often vacation locally, usually because I am frugal; some would say I am a miser. In talking with a GP parent about my hesitancy to spend money on vacation, he shared this- he never remembers what he spent his money on over the years in lieu of a family vacation, but he will always cherish the memories from the vacations. He is so right, and so I hope this break is one where you make memories as a family.

I shared in our last faculty meeting that this has been the best start to a school year ever. I shared that knowing that we have implemented a number of changes this year for teachers, and the rollout has not been the best. We learn and adjust. However, even with those changes, which have caused more work and burden for our teachers, what is taking place in the classroom is glorious. Our teachers come every day, in love, to engage these students and pour their souls out before them. They have earned a well-deserved rest. Take comfort in knowing your children are with some of the very best people I know.

Enjoy the break,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

House Shirt Survey

The faculty votes are in and now it’s your turn, Griffins, to choose your House Shirt! Please help your student fill out the attached survey for his or her House. That means students in House Vulpes will only vote in the Vulpes survey; students in House Falconis will only vote in the Falconis Survey; House Lutra in the Lutra Survey; and House Hyrax in the Hyrax survey. Once the votes are in, the final winners will be announced! Votes are due by 5 PM, Monday, October 17th. Please note that shirt sizes are for your student.

Community Investment

What is a phospholipid bilayer?  What is the difference between RNA and mRNA?  Ask one of our ninth graders in Mr. Trerise’s Biology class!

The level of education offered at Glendale Prep makes us one of the most sought-after schools in Arizona, and Community Investment is the most important way your family can support this great work!  Your family’s yearly commitment to Community Investment significantly impacts our students and helps us bridge the gap between what we receive from state funding versus the actual cost to run our school.  As you know, we start each school year with a $1,500 per studentdeficit from what public schools receive in funding.  We ask all our families to help us bridge this gap by giving to Community Investment with an amount that is meaningful to you.  Every dollar makes a difference!

We are honored to publicly recognize those families and friends who have contributed to this year’s 2022-23 Community Investment campaign. Please click here  [6]for a listing of current donors as of September 29, 2022.

If you have yet to make a gift to this year’s 2022-23 Community Investment campaign:

Glendale Prep is a wonderful place for children to grow, and Community Investment makes that growth possible!  Thank you for supporting our school!
