Hello Parents,

It was so wonderful to see you at curriculum night. I hope you enjoyed the evening and what your child experiences every day at Glendale Prep. Please do keep in mind the reality that we are a community, and we should always remember what unites us. We seek to foster a sense of our community in very intentional ways, such as through our House system.

Today, we had our first House meeting. Students new to Glendale Prep were sorted in the Houses and welcomed into each Kin, which is smaller group of students of the same House. There was time to get to know one another through games and fellowship. We will have 6-7 more House days this school year and are thankful to Mrs. Park and Ms. Valentine for taking the lead on this! Here is an overview:

The Houses
Falconis
Virtue: Dedication
Motto: Age Quod Agis (Do what you are doing [well])

Like the falcon, once House Falconis’ gaze is set, they strive with all their heart and soul toward their desires. Stooping low and soaring high, the Falcons are dedicated to seizing excellence in all its forms.

Hyrax
Virtue: Courage
Motto: Dum Spiro Spero (While I breathe, I hope)
Color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.00); font-family: Arial, sans-serif;”>House Hyrax is resolute, idealistic, and fierce. As Badgers, they defend their friends, family and ideals, protecting all that they love with an unmatched courage. Claw and fang bring ferocity to their battles, but it is their incomparable fidelity to their cete that keeps their spirits unflagging in the fight.

Lutra
Virtue: Fortitude
Motto: Virus Tentamine Gaudet (Strength rejoices in the challenge)
Color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.00); font-family: Arial, sans-serif;”>Lutra otter-stands that there is deep joy in the struggle, and that frustration is only the wake to creativity’s wave. These otters are unafraid to swim against the tide, seeking out from the depths shiny new ideas in which to delight. Vulpes
Virtue: Wisdom
Motto: Discimus Ut Serviamus (We learn in order to serve)
Color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.00); font-family: Arial, sans-serif;”>The House of the Fox is dedicated to wisdom, circumspection, and curiosity; all of knowledge’s deep, twisting burrows are where Vulpes like to tread. Like the fox, Vulpes are unafraid of dark forests and desolate tunnels: they will hunt out where wisdom is and carry it back into the light.

Community Investment and Tax Credit

Volunteers needed!  We are seeking parents, Alumni, and current 11^th and 12^th grade students to volunteer at the Teacher Excellence Fund Telethon on Saturday, September 25th at Veritas Prep in Phoenix.  Students will earn community service hours upon completion of their volunteer shift.  Come serve at this exciting event benefiting our Glendale Prep teachers!  Click here ^[1] to sign up now!

Blue & Gold Race – Saturday 8.28.21

The 11^th annual Blue and Gold Race will begin at 7:00 am. Check in starts at 6:30 am. Come run with GP Cross Country, alumni, friends and family of GP. Varsity Football Game – Next Saturday 9.4.21 (American Theme)

GP Football is BACK! GP vs. Veritas Prep next Saturday at 7:00 pm. Come check out GP Football this season and wear that red, white, and blue!

College Counseling

Welcome Back Students and Families!  We would like to invite you to College Counseling Night.  Each of these evenings offers unique and significant information for college planning pertinent to specific high school class year. All meetings will be held in the Archway MPR.  Students should plan to attend with at least one parent.  Please note the following dates and place them on your calendar.

• Junior Night – Tuesday, August 31, 6:00pm-7:30pm
• Sophomore Night – Thursday, September 9, 6:00pm-7:30pm
• Freshmen Night – Thursday, September 16, 6:00pm-7:30pm
