A Note From the Headmaster

Hello Parents,

My blast comes to you after having spent 3 days in the cool pines of Williams, AZ. As you read this, teachers, alumni, the 9th graders, and I should be arriving back to campus likely very tired, but our hearts are full of recently made memories.

I want to share with you a bit of what we experienced this last three days: Tournament Games, Messy Games, Skits, Karaoke, Morning Hike and Seminar, Zipline, Wall Climbing, Gym Time, Game Room, Late Night Capture the Flag, and Cabin Time.

I want to give a special thank you to so many people who helped make this event happen, and for my helpful teachers and staff who stayed behind to teach classes. We are so grateful to: Ms. Hudson, Mrs. Hayakawa, Ms. McLoughlin, Ms. Roiger, Dr. Ustach, Mr. Wiebe, Mr. Gonzalez, Mr. Collum, Mr. Maratea, Megan Mahoney, Talia Arvizu, Gabby Sheitelman, Alex Indacochea, Giana Cirulli, Noah Roundy, Omair Neazi, Gabe Klein, and Nate Kummeth.

Parents, thank you for helping us make this special event a reality. I will cherish the time we shared these last three days.

Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Study Skills Workshop
Our Study Skills Workshop is tomorrow, Saturday, August 17th from 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We strongly recommend that all 6th graders and new students attend; however, all GP students are welcome to join. Students are required to wear their uniforms.

This workshop includes 3 interactive seminars on the following topics:
1.  Organization and Time Management
2.  Reading and Test Preparation
3.  Note Taking and Outlining

Students are asked to attend the workshop with one parent. The cost of each student/parent “team” is $20 ($30 for 2 or more siblings/parent teams). Light snacks will be provided. If you have not signed up on the payment portal you can still attend and pay at the door.

Curriculum Night
We would like to invite all Glendale Prep parents to our Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 29th. This is our annual kick-off event and an excellent opportunity to meet our administration and faculty, in addition to discussing our curriculum and educational pedagogy.

We will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the gym lobby with sign-in, an informational fair, and refreshments. We will then transition to classroom presentations. Teachers will give a brief lesson in their classrooms; parents will have the opportunity to follow their child’s class schedule and visit with their teachers. This is a parent-only event. Please click on Curriculum Night [12] to sign up for the event.

Arrival & Parking
The campus will open for parking at 6:00 p.m. Please do not arrive before 6:00 p.m. All vehicles will enter from 83rd Ave., and the first 60 cars will be directed to park perpendicular to the building’s main sidewalk. After these spots are filled, all parking spots throughout the lot will be available, including the student parking lot. Parents should enter the building through the north gym entrance. We look forward to seeing you soon

Students should contact a classmate or email his/her teachers for missed assignments. You can always find teacher’s email addresses on the Glendale Prep website [15].

Parents can email attendance@glendaleprep.org [16] or call 623-889-0822 option 1 when reporting their child’s absence. Please remember to include your child’s full name and reason for absence.

Community Investment
Hello Glendale Prep families!

What an exciting year we all have ahead of us! We have the privilege of serving as your Academy Giving workforce for Glendale Prep. Our role is to raise the necessary funds for our school that make our classical liberal arts curriculum possible. We do this through two campaigns that are vital to our school, the Community Investment Campaign and the Arizona Public School Tax Credit Campaign. We look forward to partnering with you throughout the school year in supporting our great academy. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us at 623.889.0822 should you need any assistance starting your school year.

In the service of our students and teachers,
