A Note From Headmaster

Hello Parents,

Our Senior class was away this week on a local Senior trip to Williams, Flagstaff, and the Grand Canyon. Ms. Roiger, Mr. Gonzalez, Mr. Kinum, Dr. Ustach, and Mrs. LeTrent had a wonderful time with the students, just being together. They saw at least six inches of snow! What a blessing it is to be together; so much of education involves ideas, discussions, facts, and skills; however, what makes it worthwhile is learning and sharing the short time we have with others. I am so thankful for the many parents and volunteers who served as the meal work crew and the teachers on campus, who found ways to substitute in classes, so our Seniors could cherish their remaining time at Glendale Prep. Here are a few pictures from their time together.

Have a great weekend,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Quarter 3 Evaluations
Parents, the PowerSchool Portal for grades and evaluations is open. An email with the link was sent to parents on Wednesday. If you are unable to locate the email you can simply click here [10] and login using the User ID and Password you created. Once logged in, we find clicking “Report Card” on the left side on a laptop/desktop is the best place to view and print teachers’ comments along with their grades. If you have difficulty logging in, please reach out to Mrs. Hayakawa at shayakawa@glendaleprep.org [11].

Please print and/or digitally save your child’s evaluation for your own future reference. You will have access to view grades and narratives until Wednesday, March 31st.

Senior Thesis
Senior Thesis Defense Panels are quickly approaching! All panels will consist of two main parts: 1) The Thesis Presentation: a brief presentation (of about 10 minutes) in which the student will highlight the essential ideas of the paper; and 2) The Thesis Panel Discussion: a panel of three faculty readers will be convened to conduct a discussion with the student about his or her Thesis. Parents are invited to attend. Please enter through the front office.

Next week the following students will have their panels:

Schedules for AzMerit Testing
Please note that due to AzMerit testing for grades 6th, 7th, 8th, and 10th the daily class schedules will be adjusted schoolwide. Considering the standardized nature of the test, it will not be possible to reschedule the test if your student is absent. Therefore, it is important that your student is present on the day of testing. Distance Learners can partake in the testing by arriving at the front office at 7:50 a.m. on testing days. Ms. Like will send out a more detailed communication closer to the testing dates.

Please click the links below and print the schedule for April 5th-9th for your reference when planning any appointments.

Prepared for the Day
To limit the exposure of Covid-19 throughout the campus we ask that students are prepared for school each day. Please ensure your child has lunch, books, homework, mask, water bottle, and transportation plans the night before. It should only be a very rare occasion that a forgotten item is left in the front office to be picked up or a calls home is needed. Lunches should not be dropped off or calls made home on a regular basis. Thank you for helping to keep our campus healthy and running. Please email any questions to Mrs. Hayakawa at shayakawa@glendaleprep.org [11].

BE PART OF SOMETHING GREAT

Glendale Prep is seeking an individual/couple to represent our academy on the 2021 Great Hearts Telethon Committee. The Great Hearts Telethon raises funds to benefit the Teacher Excellence Fund, which is distributed to our faculty as bonus compensation on an annual basis. Last year, Glendale Prep teachers received over $20,000 from this incredible event! This year’s Telethon will take place on Saturday, September 25th. We invite you to be a part of something great and join the Glendale Prep Telethon Committee. A full description of the position can be found here [14]. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please contact Haley Kucharo at hkucharo@greatheartsaz.org [15].
