A Note From Headmaster

Hello Parents,

This past Friday night was Senior Night for our basketball programs. Our gym was packed with people, and the energy was certainly present. Something I learned from my wife in our first year of marriage was to stop and focus my mind to “take in” an experience or event so that I could cherish the memory for years to come. I think she assumed I may have a tendency to “be on the go”, but I digress.

There were many moments where I took it all in.

I watched our seniors in the crowd cheer and hold up hand-made signs for their fellow seniors who were competing. I joined in with the chants from our crowd, yelling, “This is our House” while holding up Hannah, our four-year-old daughter, as she pumped her fists in the air. I witnessed a senior captain brought to tears, when his sister surprised him, flying in from Wheaton college to see him play in his last game on our court (It was the best game he has ever played too). I saw my oldest son Luke playing bump-out with his peers during half-time. I embraced one dad when his son made a sweet move to get to the hoop and score. I heard my wife multiple times say to me, “Stop yelling; you are not their coach”. And at the end of the night, our Lady Griffins almost beat the number one team in the state, and our boys won by thirty-seven points to a team they had lost to by twenty-seven points just two weeks ago.

It was a special night that I will cherish!

Enjoy the three-day weekend,
Mr. Navarrette

On Friday, February 28th from 10:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m. Mr. Navarrette welcomes you to join him for coffee, small group discussion, and classroom observations. What makes Glendale Prep such a wonderful community is parent support and commitment to the Academy’s ideals. This is a time to hear from Mr. Navarrette about upcoming events, as well as understand more about specific aspects of school culture. He would also like to discuss any questions you may have about the school. Most importantly, the hope is that this time will provide an opportunity for you to get to know other parents and share your common experiences. Given the timing and space, we are limited to seven parents. Click here to RSVP [37]. Please check-in at the front office.
