A Note From Headmaster

Hello Parents,

It is important for you to know about some changes coming Semester II. Ms. Erin Hudson will no longer serve as our Dean of Students. She will continue teaching and helping support students who may be struggling academically, personally, or socially. This will include meeting with students before school, during lunch and lyceum, as well as after school.

Mrs. Katheryn LeTrent will be our new Dean of Students. She will oversee culture and discipline, dress code, detentions, and meeting with students about accountability and responsibility to ensure reflection and restoration. Her focus is on building strong student-teacher relationships.

We will be welcoming a new 11th grade Drama teacher. Ms. Breona Conrad will be teaching three Drama classes in the coming semester. She has taught theatre and directed plays for over twenty years and is currently the Director of Education for Southwest Shakespeare Company. Ms. Conrad is excited to become part of our community and will serve our students well.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

3. Encourage and help to provide a positive environment for studying free of distraction, including their phone.
4. Find joy in the simple, peaceful pleasures this time of year brings. Take study breaks to enjoy the cool, crisp weather on a family walk together, bake some cookies, or make plans for visiting the snow over winter break.
5. Stick with your morning routine, and be sure to get your student to school by 8:00 a.m. or earlier if they plan on attending tutoring.

Second Semester Typing Class
Mr. Oakes will again be offering a typing class to middle school and high school students. The class will provide instruction and guided practice in the home row method. By the end of the course, students will have fully learned the home row method and will have set a foundation for increasing speed and accuracy. The course will especially help students who have little or no experience with typing or who type fewer than twenty-five words per minute. The course will meet each Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.-4:15 p.m. The course will run for ten weeks starting on Tuesday, January 14th. The cost is $50 per student by check; made out to Mr. Oakes. There are twenty-five seats available. Email Mr. Oakes [20] to reserve a seat.

Tax Credit +2
It’s that time of year…GP needs your Tax Credit, plus two more! Ask family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to support your student by redirecting their tax dollars to Glendale Prep. They will receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on their Arizona State Taxes!

To reward students for bringing in all those Tax Credits…

Contest ends midnight, December 31st, 2019!

Uniform Check
We’re almost midway through the school year, please take time over the next couple of weeks to check your son’s and daughter’s uniforms to be sure they are fitting properly. This time of year is when skirts and pants seem to start “shrinking.” Please click here to access the GP Family Handbook [21] for a refresher on what the requirements are for skirts and pants. The Uniform Policy starts on page 67.

College Counseling

  • Seniors Students: Please make sure that all last essay edits for Regular Decision applications have been submitted before the College Counseling Department closes for winter break on Friday, December 20, 2019.
