A Note from the Headmaster

Hello GP Families,

Last night I had the pleasure of joining the PSO for the September meeting, which was filled with enthusiasm and great ideas for the year ahead (a fall movie night, 6th grade family social, and more!). Twelve eager parents represented our GP families, and it is my hope that we can double that number for the upcoming October 16th meeting.

Whether you are returning to Glendale Prep or joining us for the first time, we want you to know how important a strong sense of community is to us. We are proud of the dedication of our PSO, and as we strive for excellence, we always seek to grow stronger together. We are truly blessed by the many parents who have generously given their time and talents to our school through the PSO.

With this in mind, we warmly invite each of you to consider joining this wonderful group of parents. Your involvement makes a lasting and positive impact on our school community.

More information on our GP PSO can be found on the Glendale Prep website HERE [1].

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs. Janssen

Order before midnight on Picture Day, September 22nd to get FREE shipping! A flyer will be sent home with students soon. Orders after Picture Day must be placed online only on mylifetouch.com [5] .

From the Deans

Please note the following reminders from the Deans of Students to support clarity and consistency across campus:

  1. Tardy Tracking in PowerSchool. With open grade books now available, you can monitor your students’ attendance, including tardies, directly in PowerSchool. Please remember that an accumulation of three (3) tardies results in a detention.
  2. Spirit Shirts Must Be School-Issued. On Spirit Wear Wednesdays, shirts must be uniform tops, school-issued GP spirit, or GP athletic shirts. Solid-color, non-GP apparel and handmade shirts do not meet the spirit wear guidelines.

Thank you for partnering with us to maintain a unified campus. If you have any questions, please contact the Deans of Students (Deansofstudents@glendaleprep.org [6]).

GP Faculty Play

Griffin Players presents the GP faculty in Arsenic and Old Lace! Come see your favorite teachers on stage performing Sept. 12th and 13th in a murder mystery that isn’t a mystery at all! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on the payment portal or with cash at the door.

Homework Overview

Project Week

Although Project Week is shorter this year, it is of utmost importance that we continue with the exciting and mentally stimulating tradition.

High school students will enjoy the novel Frankenstein, which will be handed out and started together in class on Monday, September 29th.  Students will finish the text independently the remainder of the week.

Subsequently, high school students will celebrate with a High School Symposium on Wednesday, October 15th.

Middle school students will enjoy different works of literature, depending on student grade level. All students must have their own copy of the book in class on Monday, September 29th, to begin project week with their classmates. Students will finish project week independently.

6th Grade: Tom Sawyer [8]

7th Grade: The Miracle Worker [9]

8th Grade: Sir Gawain and the Green Night [10]

Middle school students will enjoy seminars on Monday, October 13th.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Conference days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, October 1-3. A separate Conference Sign-Ups email will be sent to families next week. Make sure to sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teachers!

Middle School conferences are for parents only.

High School students will attend their conferences and must be in uniform. Junior and Senior students will lead their conferences and must also be in uniform.

Dress Drive

Has your student ever spent hours trying to find the perfect dress for a dance? Come to the Second Annual Dress Drive for fun with friends, iced coffee, and a chance to shop our selection of dress-code friendly dresses! It’ll take place on September 25th during the home volleyball game. Deans of Students will accept dress donations in their office every morning starting September 2nd, and everyone who donates a dress will get a coupon for a half price dress at the drive. For any questions, contact Ms. Mahoney.

Family Giving

Unity in the Community
September 15–19, 2025

At Glendale Prep, we are committed to teaching our students to live a life full of truth, beauty, and goodness. As a not-for-profit public charter school, we receive less funding from the state each year, creating a deficit of more than $1,500 per student.

Your student’s classical liberal arts education is made possible by parents and community members like you who unify us through giving to our Community Investment campaign each year. Thank you to every family who has already partnered with us to support the important work happening in classrooms every day!

This September 15–19, we are rallying Unity in our Community with gifts to Community Investment, continuing to grow a beautiful culture of generosity for our children, together! Questions? Please reach out to Tammy Kempton, Family Giving Officer, at tkempton@glendaleprep.org [14].

College Counseling

College Counseling Parent and Student Information Sessions

Glendale Prep’s College Counseling Department is excited to host grade level informational meetings for parents and students. We will share information relevant to each grade level regarding the college search process. Please join us for the specific grade level of your student in Archway’s MPR.

Please mark your calendars with the following dates:

· Thursday, September 11th 6:15 – 7:30 pm Sophomore Parent Night

· Tuesday, September 16th 6:15 – 7:30 pm Freshman Parent Night

ASU Application Workshop for Seniors

The College Counseling Department will be hosting an application workshop for all seniors interested in applying to ASU. This is the only opportunity seniors will have to get assistance with their ASU application from our department; however, seniors can always contact their ASU representative for assistance. We encourage all seniors interested to attend on Wednesday, September 10th from 1:15 pm – 3:00 pm. Students will be prepared to hit the submit button by the end of this workshop. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Sarbacker at ksarbacker@glendaleprep.org [15].
