A Note from the Headmaster

Hello,

What an incredible week for our high school students.  Two hundred eighty-five students and twenty-three faculty came together for the 7th annual Glendale Prep High School Retreat at Lost Canyon.  The senior class led students through games, seminar discussions, and vocal performances.  Old friendships were fortified, and new friendships blossomed.  Thank you to the 30 parent volunteers who ensured we were well fed and cared for.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Labor Day weekend,

Mrs. Janssen

2025-26 ESEA Form

On August 18th, the 2025-26 ESEA form became available on your enrollment parent portal to complete. Please complete the ESEA form for each student for the 2025–2026 school year. Your participation—regardless of eligibility—helps secure funding for:

· Tutoring & academic support

· Technology upgrades

· Teacher training & facility improvements

Instructions on how to complete this form was sent on Monday, August 18th, 2025.

All information is confidential. Thank you for your support!

From the Deans

Please note the following reminders from the Deans of Students to support clarity and consistency across campus:

  1. Tardy Tracking in PowerSchool. With open grade books now available, you can monitor your students’ attendance, including tardies, directly in PowerSchool. Please remember that an accumulation of three (3) tardies results in a detention.
  2. Spirit Shirts Must Be School-Issued. On Spirit Wear Wednesdays, shirts must be uniform tops, school-issued GP spirit, or GP athletic shirts. Solid-color, non-GP apparel and handmade shirts do not meet the spirit wear guidelines.

Thank you for partnering with us to maintain a unified campus. If you have any questions, please contact the Deans of Students (Deansofstudents@glendaleprep.org [1]).

GP Faculty Play

Griffin Players presents the GP faculty in Arsenic and Old Lace! Come see your favorite teachers on stage performing Sept. 12th and 13th in a murder mystery that isn’t a mystery at all! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on the payment portal or with cash at the door.

Student Absences

When absent, it is always the student’s responsibility to obtain the missing assignments and any class notes.  Make-up work due dates are given on a 1:1 ratio.  For example, if a student was absent for three days, they would have three days to complete their make-up work before deductions begin.

Please note that teachers will not have handouts or assignments to give students prior to an absence.  Students must collect these items upon their return to make up.  Middle school and 9th grade should, however, work to keep up with any readings or assignments that might be completed without a handout as posted daily on the Middle School and 9thgrade Homework Overview Spreadsheet.  10th-12th graders should reach out to a classmate to keep up with any missed readings or assignments that might be completed without a handout.

Writing for Publication Enrichment Course

Is your student a creative thinker? Do they want to write a novel? Writing for Publication is a semester-long course designed for writers to learn craft techniques, develop their skills with workshop, and learn the ins and outs of publication. We will meet every Tuesday from 3:00PM-4:00 PM.

Enrolled students will gather twice a week, on Tuesday and/or Friday until 4:30PM to participate in casual games. Members can also expect coaching, discussion of the history of chess, and various strategies of play and how to apply them in game. We welcome players at all levels, and from all grades.

Yearbook Enrichment Course

Do you want to bring your own touch to the 2025-2026 Yearbook? Writers, editors and photographers… we need many talents and qualities to build our team. The information was during Lyceum 1 today, Friday, August 22nd.

For more information please contact:                                                                            Madame Cognet-Pereira: ccognetpereira@glendaleprep.org [3].

Dress Drive

Has your student ever spent hours trying to find the perfect dress for a dance? Come to the Second Annual Dress Drive for fun with friends, iced coffee, and a chance to shop our selection of dress-code friendly dresses! It’ll take place on September 25th during the home volleyball game. Deans of Students will accept dress donations in their office every morning starting September 2nd, and everyone who donates a dress will get a coupon for a half price dress at the drive. For any questions, contact Ms. Mahoney.

Drop-Off

Drop-Off Etiquette Reminder
To keep our drop-off process safe and efficient, we need everyone’s cooperation — both parents and faculty. Please take a moment to review and follow these important reminders:

  • Stay in Your Lane: Do not switch lanes during drop-off. Changing lanes causes delays and backups in the opposite lane.
  • Curbside Drop-Off: Students from both schools may be dropped off anywhere along the curb. This helps keep the line moving.
  • Faculty Parking: Please be mindful of staff trying to park. If a vehicle is stopped and signaling, it is likely a staff member. Allow them space to enter.
  • Do Not Drop Off in These Areas:
    • The turn lane
    • Along Planada
    • By the flagpole
  • Speed Limit: Drive slowly and cautiously. The expected speed during drop-off and pick-up is 10 mph. Please do not exceed 15 mph at any time.
  • Parking: Parents should not park on campus to walk students in. If you’d like to walk your child, please park along the north side of Pinnacle Peak, east of 83rd Avenue.
  • Right Turn Only: When exiting, please turn right only. If you need to make a U-turn, do so after the posted sign. Making a U-turn too early is a ticketable offense.

We understand that drop-off can be a stressful part of the day, but by following these guidelines, we can keep things moving safely and smoothly for everyone. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation!

Family Giving

Did you know that you can double or even triple your Community Investment and Tax Credit donations to Glendale Prep? Many companies will match their employees’ donations to our school through their Corporate Gift Matching Programs. And it’s an easy way to increase the impact of your donations!

Search our directory to see if your company is listed here. [4] If they aren’t listed here, please take the extra step to inquire with your Human Resources department to find out if your company offers a matching gifts program. Please contact our Family Giving Officer, Tammy Kempton, at tkempton@glendaleprep.org [5] with any questions.

At our session, a parent asked if a student could take more than one CLEP test on a given testing day. If you choose to test through Great Hearts, we can accommodate up to two tests per testing session; however, if you test through alternate sites, such as ASU or a community college, you will need to check with the testing site.
