A Note from the Headmaster

Hello Families,

While this blast serves to remind parents of high school students about an important event, I very much hope middle school parents also read to look forward to the annual high school retreat in Williams, AZ.  Plans are underway, and our goal is to have 100% student attendance. The primary goal of the retreat is to provide time and space away from the classroom for high school students to build relationships among their peers and with their teachers. The idea for this annual retreat is one example of carrying out our vision for Glendale Prep to be a place where students are known and loved. In talking with high school students over the years, memories are certainly made at retreat!

Parents, please click the link to pay for the retreat; the price will go up sooner than you think. Here is some information from the portal regarding pricing.

Seniors will depart from Glendale Prep to Lost Canyon on Tuesday, August 26th for a 1 day/1 night senior retreat to then welcome 9th-11th grade students on August 27th. All high school students will return to Glendale Prep on Friday, August 29th. Discount pricing through April 30th HERE [7]!

Mural Project 2025-2030

In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of American Independence in 2026, Glendale Prep will be painting a mural in the middle hallway also known as the 700s to hail the United States’ greatest achievements and our hope for the future. Juniors and seniors will have the initial meeting this week, but this is an ongoing multi-year project so please let Mrs. Mure or Mr. Martin know if you are interested in planning or painting a piece of our own GP history.

Academics

Robotics

Great Hearts just published a story about Glendale Prep’s AZ Champion Robotics team focusing on the recent successes and preparation for the Worlds competition in mid April, the growth of the team, and the effects the robotics program has had on some of the senior members.

Please read about it here: link [9]

SUPPORT OUR ROBOTICS TEAM

The team is raising funds to afford the trip to Worlds in Houston.  If you work for a business or own a business that would like to support the team with a monetary donation or in helping with printing banners or t-shirts, please reach out to Mr. Roper soon at broper@glendaleprep.org [10] about forming that partnership.

Family Giving

Support Our School & Earn an additional R&R Weekend!

Did you know you can support our school at no cost to you? The Arizona Public School Tax Credit allows you to donate up to $200 (individual) or $400 (married filing jointly) and get it back as a dollar-for-dollar credit on your state taxes! These funds help enhance student experiences with extracurricular activities, clubs, and field trips, and more.

Here’s the best part: If we reach our fundraising goal, the entire school will earn a well-deserved additional Rest & Relaxation (R&R) Weekend—no homework, no tests, just a stress-free break for all!

Make your contribution today and help us reach our goal! Use this link to Donate to Glendale Preparatory Tax Credit [11] before April 15. Please share this link with family and friends that live in the state of Arizona to help us reach our goal. Thank you for supporting our students!

Questions? Please reach out to Tammy Kempton, Family Giving Officer, at tkempton@glendaleprep.org [12].

College Counseling

ACT Prep Workshop: An ACT Prep Workshop at Glendale Preparatory Academy will be offered from March 1st until April 12th. If you are interested and would like to learn more, please refer to this flyer [13]. If you have any additional questions, please contact Mrs. Sarbacker at ksarbacker@glendaleprep.org [14].

College Rep Visits: All visits are held during lunch and lyceum in Room 706. 9th-12th grade students interested in learning more about these schools are invited to attend.

What To Do During Summer: Summer is approaching, and Students are curious about what they can do during the summer. The following are a few options for summer programs here in Arizona:

In partnership with the Truman Presidential Library’s White House Decision Center [15], the ASU Center for American Institutions is pleased to offer high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors an opportunity to join us on the ASU Tempe campus on Thursday, July 24, 2025 for a High School Leadership Academy on “Ending the War With Japan.” The program will challenge students to step into the roles of President Harry S. Truman and his advisors to debate how and when to end the war with Japan and by extension end World War II. The goal of the exercise is for students to read declassified historical primary documents and discuss the issues surrounding President Truman’s decision. Students are not led to one or another conclusion; rather, as a group they are to reach a decision of their own on the topic. More information can be found here [16] .
