A NOTE FROM THE HEADMASTER
Dear Glendale Prep Families,
As we enter the final two weeks of Quarter 3, it can be tempting to measure effort singularly by the immediate results found in posted grades. However, much of the formation of our students happens quietly, beneath the surface if you will. Strengthened habits, sharpened focus and attention, and moral development, each taking root beneath the surface.
It is easy to believe the struggle “nought availeth” when we do not immediately see the harvest. The steady work our students are doing now may not yet bear fruit; it may not yet even break the surface of the soil. That is to say, the results of their efforts may not be visible at the end of this quarter, or even the end of this school year. But they will come, whether this year or in the years ahead. The work of today is not in vain; patience and perseverance are required by both student (and parents) and teacher alike.
As we reflect on this work and the temptation to measure one’s efforts singularly, I’d like to share a poem that speaks to this very inclination. My hope is that it brings you the same renewed sense of confidence in that which is taking root now beneath the surface.
Warmly,
Mrs. Janssen
