Dear Parents,
At Glendale Prep, students are asked to select and submit their preferences for foreign language study during high school. The academy offers three language options: 1) Two additional years of Latin, followed by two years of Greek, 2) Four years of French [1], 3) Four years of Spanish. Our modern language options (French and Spanish) are taught by immersion. If your student has not previously taken Latin, we strongly recommend he or she select French or Spanish as their primary preference, as Latin IV assumes three years of Latin experience.
Please discuss these language options with your student, and click here to complete the survey [2] to indicate their high school foreign language track preference. You will be asked to rank all three options from the highest to the lowest preference. Please, only one survey per current 8th grade child. Be sure to complete this survey by Friday, March 12th.
The Academy does not guarantee that all students will receive their first language choice. If a student does not receive his or her first choice, then the administration will assign the student to his or her second choice. The timeliness of submitting the foreign language preference form can be a factor in language assignments, so we recommend a quick submission.
